Seeing as though i dont have the damper rod holder and have tried everything i possibly can (screwing drills into the seals and trying to yank them off etc) how anyone else has gotten their fork seals off without the damper rod holder.

    I have a 1991 3ln3, please help!!!!!!!!!!

I dont like to say this but I put a new seal in mine and putting self tappers into the seal made it fit tighter and harder to get out.

I ended up putting the cylinder leg in the vice and pulling the the piston rod clean thru the seal and then removing the seal. This was a 2KR model.

wouldnt that pull the dampening rod bolt through the bottom of the fork boot? Anyway i solved the problem, i just used the end of a broom handle (i'm serious) at the advice of a mechanic. The end of the dampening rod (where the dampening rod holder goes) is just a hollow hole which the tool must wedge in between. Using a wooden (so it will grip the metal) domed off end of the handle wedged in nicely and let me unscrew that bottom bolt off.

Sorry. I mis-interpreted what you were saying. To undo my damper bolt I used a piece of aluminium tube to wedge in the tapered hole (10mm tube I think).

Looks like you have it all under control.
