This is for the second time in a month that it has happened. First I thought that perhaps the oil change was due and the engine was getting hot so the coolant got hot and overflowed from the breather pipe. But now the oil is new, everything else is fine, the coolant level in the reservoir was just below the full mark but as I drove the bike at high rpms, a lot of coolant flowed out of the breather pipe below. What could be the reason? Please help me out..
What temperature is the gauge showing when riding?? If the engine overheats, the pressure increases too much and you will lose water out the radiator cap into the water reservoir, which overfills and spews out. If you are just overheating you possibly need a new thermostat Or a leaking head gasket will give similar problems, but you don't want to know that.
I don't think it's an overheating problem. It happened as I drove the bike on high rpms when the radiator fan hadn't yet come on. Even the gasket isn't leaking..So?
I take it that the temp gauge is not getting into the red zone? Take the radiator cap off and see if there are air bubbles continually rising to the top when the engine is running, this is one way to confirm that the head gasket is not ok. The only other thing I can think of is that the radiator cap might be leaking.
Figured out, it was a problem with the reservoir cap. The cap is not the original one actually and it wasn't creating enough pressure, I think and hence the overflow..
