So, the poor old ZZR is officially a write -off in the eyes of my insurance company so I'm up for another bike and I am considering getting a cruiser this time.
Given i'll only have a couple grand to spend my options aren't too broad.
I'm just going to rule the Virago out now, don't even ask me.
The Intruder seems a nice little bike but I will have to do a fair amount of travelling in 110 zones so I am worried it's a little underpowered.
The VN Eliminator appeals to me, though it's right on the very limit of my budget.
But Hyosung GV250's are stupidly cheap. I can get an injected 2011 model for $1500.
I don't mind the looks of them but I appreciate that reliability can be a question mark (though, at my price point that may be true of most things).
Has anyone got any real experience with the GV? I'd be interested to hear them though I appreciate this forum does lean more toward sports bikes.
I'm sure there are some negative opinions and I'm fine with that but I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has actually ridden these things.
    Thanks

Never ridden one...but had a friend who owned one, had carbs I think. He had nothing but praise for the bike and enjoyed the riding position. If you can score a fuel injected model for that price I would not hesitate. :thumb_ups:
P.S. Take it you won't be requiring air cleaner for zzr ???:lolsign:

As u know I have the sports sewing machine and I dont know its performance compared to the cruiser but mine has ample get up and go and I would think totally fine for sitting on 110 in that sense.
Mine gets up to 140+ without much struggle even with my fat arse on it.

Do a bit of googling about the EFI model as I was told they have glitches in the error codes or something like that

LOL, @Phil I actually need an airbox for my ZXR, not my ZZR. The ZXR project is part of why I'm considering a cruiser this time around; that way I'll have one for the twisties and one for the cruise (assuming I ever finish the ZXR!) :)

Yeah, @GreyImport , it looks like a choice between dodgy ECU's on the injected or dodgy rectifiers on the carby ;-)

depending on what you have to spend, have a look at the ninja 300's, second hand ones are coming down a lot on gumtree and remember cash is king!

i actually happened to see a cruiser sewing machine while i was riding my almighty korean sports-sewing machine yesterday. think it was a 650 though.
if i were you and looking for a cruiser-ish bike while working on your ZXR, i'd honestly look at getting something more like a 750 than a 250 if you find anything in your budget (sorry everyone), it'll make the ride more comfortable and less worrying especially on 100kph roads and you'll always have your insane zxr to play with when you want to have fun

Yep, I'm sure if I could afford it I'd be looking at a bigger cruiser. Unfortunately I just don't have the funds.
Oh, well, better a cheap bike than no bike, right?
Hmmm, shall I talk about the irony about a guy who's forum name is @cantafforda600 suggesting a bigger bike? :) LOL

Hmmm, are you parting out the ZZR by any chance? I'm looking for a replacement instrument cluster for Nix as half the tacho needle has snapped off.

I don't know yet @TechHeadFred , the total loss team still haven't come back with how much they will charge me to buy the 'wreck' back. I'll let you know if I do. As a bonus, it hasn't done 20k yet, so your miles will look good if I can sell it to you :)

Awesome, let me know how it pans out.

Sucks to have lost the bike though - I'm pretty happy with Nix as a daily commuting bike.

Yeah, that's true, it's hard to loose a bike like that. On the other hand, I am infamous for how fast I get through vehicles (sometimes I think it's some sort of mental condition - you wouldn't believe how many cars I've owned!) so I'm just thinking of it as a rough way to try something new :)

Sorry, @TechHeadFred , the insurance company wanted almost a third of the money they are giving me for the ZZR to buy the wreck back and I just can't afford the delay it will take to recoup that money if I part it out. Sorry, mate :-(
