    Guys,

When I turn the key to on, the bike makes a sort of fast clicking noise, which lasts for some time (definitely not exup, don't have one, or fuel pump). Strange thing is, when i press the rear brake, the clicking stops. Take my foot off the brake, and the clicking starts again. Trying to start my bike at anytime simply makes the headlights go dim, with the oil light turning on (nothing else).

3 weeks ago my rear brake light wasn't turning on, and a mechanic cleaned the little circuit for the rear brake light (near your right foot). Then it started working again.

Does anyone know what's going on?

I would be looking at you battery to see if it is buggered, try using jumper leads off a car battery. Also check battery connections are clean and tight.

I agree with Dave, as well as double checking the elect work that was done. You may have an open ground(earth) a that is draining the battery.

the sound you hear is the solenoid. It means your battery is weak

I tried trickle chargin the battery, tried starting her again, and the same thing, no joy. The battery may be dead.

Does anyone know if it is safe to connect jumper leads directly from a car battery to the bike terminals (without the bike battery being connected)?

No difference. 12volts is 12volts is 12volts.. Just connect it the right way around or the smoke comes out of the electronics.
