seems i can't work out how to get to the bulbs to replace them - i've got a 2kr (double headlight) - do you take the lenses off the front or get to them from behind??
im not sure about the 2kr, but if its the same as the double headlight 3ln, then you get to them from the back.... take the rubber cover off, unplug the wiring and twist the head light out... simon
bugger i just bought a new 45W one. Can't seem to get 30W ones - i'm guessing this may drain the battery a bit (especially when i've had charging problems before) but are there any bigger probs?
Nah just the charging system. Im running 60 watt globes atm..that was draining battery..so I just disconnected one so it runs on parkers. 45 watters might be ok. Where did u get them from? and how much did they cost you. I found a wreckers that had similar ones that would fit. they were 30 watt, but he wanted 20 bucks each for them.
got the 45W globe from some bike shop in greensborough - can't tell you exactly where 'cos i just stopped there on the spur of the moment while out that way for work - and yeah i copped $20 - seems a bit pricey but i guess thats wot they cost -
I'm told that you must try not to touch the glass lens when changing bulbs (the oil in your skin may cause damage to glass). Seems a bit far fetched, but I try to use a clean rag or disposible gloves when changing headlight bulbs.
It is just the halogen globes that you cant touch (just about all headlight globes now days). the oil on the glass attracts the gasses inside the globe to one point near the oil causing the bulb to work less efficiently and increase operating temperature sometimes leading to the glass popping. may not be so much of a problem on a 30W globe but it is good practice. Please correct me if anything i have said is wrong.
