First off sorry bout the many threads but you know excited an all.

Second just found out my chainguard's been scrubbing on my tyre. It has worn alittle out of the chainguard.
    Its just a plastic one.

I only noticed it after i tightened chain. Im not sure if the axle nuts have to be tighted at certain amounts. It looks right. As in same as before i loosened it.

or if it has been rubbing for AWHILE.

Just wondering how much of an issue this is?
    Can I just remove it?
I never had one on my dr250.

    Thanks.

we will call him just stub then ......:commando:

Is the chain guard tightly secured and not flapping about when riding?
Did u adjust the chain and align the wheel using these? .... there should be markers on the swingarm.

Not sure if I fully understand what's happened here. Was the chain guard rubbing prior to you adjusting the chain or has it started since you adjust it.
The chain guard is there for a very good reason, so I think keeping it is a good and safe idea.

My advise is this, get a stand and get the back wheel off the ground. Spin the back wheel and you will soon see if the wheel is aligned, if misaligned the adjusters will remedy this problem with the axle loosened some. Best case to get it spot on is to measure with a set of verniers, then you know it's 100% correct.
Now should the alignment be spot on, check the tags on the swing arm to see if they are bent which will cause the chain guard to be off centre. If bent you can try and straighten them or use a washer to space it out a fraction. That's about all I can come up with mate, good luck.

Stub does not sound appealing at all so the chainguard can stay on.
Im not totally sure if it was rubbing before or not but noticed it today which is 2 days after I adjusted chain. Though the gouge is fairly deep.
Yeah Greyimport those are the adjusts I adjusted to the next notch. They are all good as I adjusted to the indicator notches. And the chainguard is mounted firmly just touching outside of the tyre.
Phil I will check those out and Im lucky got the centre stand.

    thanks

Phil is on the money there ....those tabs the guard sits on/screws into could be even just be slightly bent and if the guard is a little warped thru age it wouldnt take much to be touching .
Theres no rub marks on the inside of the swing arm?

On my spares bike someone had fitted an over size tyre and cut a section out of the guard to accommodate it. :commando:

Theres also the extreme where the rim is bent or the tyre fitted incorrectly but spinning the back wheel u will obviously pick up on that also.

Yeah grey The guard does seem alittle warped and i thought that the tyre may be a little big. I did think tyre maybe alittle large. I just bent the front mounting tab alittle so now its of the wheel a couple of mm so hopefully that will be alright for awhile.
