Yeah i got got complete engine, coil, wiring, carbs, airbox, etc....
Just need a frame or anything left of a frame, so long as it has a neck, i can build the rest from there lol.
I know where one frame is, but it has no numbers and i dont want to go down that route.

I might have an option for you... I am picking up a frame this week that has had pretty much every tab or bracket cut off it to go racing... I only need one lower tube to replace the one on my frame.
I have no idea if the frame is listed as stolen etc. I doubt it will be listed as a writeoff though.
I will be picking it up on Friday in Western NSW. I will let you know the frame number on the weekend and you can get it checked (a quick call to Service NSW will give you all you need). If it works then $50 and its yours... minus the lower bar of course :)

Things to check are the cam chain...cam chain adjuster horseshoe and primary chain....cam chain and horseshoe are the most important

Not quite at that part yet.
Gotta take the carbs off and clean them up.
But the little bit of running i did have it sounded smooth, no rattles or noises of abnormal kind.
Sounded interesting with 2 partly intact headers and 2 missing.

Yep, they have a tendency to jam in the pivot plus people think the adjustment is by screw-in in the adjuster...plenty have stuffed threads in the case.

I know what you mean with the pipes...I am trying to convince the guy selling me the spare frame to let go of his really good condition original 400 exhaust...for a reasonable price

Ahhh, good luck with that, they are hard to find esp if they ain't cactus.

I know i won't build this full original, it be a bit of a resto mod. So far if this frame you get checks out on the numbers, i'll have a frame sorted and motor so far seems to be good. Exhaust i got a 350 set i can use at the moment, but i've got a 400 set too but its so rusty and falling apart. However its a good template and i'll just build a set of headers that mimic the originals closely.

But i'm a bit a way at the moment from doing much other than getting the motor running, It will have to be all blanked and plugged up then the outer of the motor will need to be blasted without stripping the insides.

Also i'm pretty sure i found a honda cb400/4 tank in decent nick, so that should be good.

Gotta say tho, my cb550 motor, 41 years old, rebuilt carbs, starts and runs super well. this cb400/4 motor, 44 years old and it started and runs.

It says something about Honda's Old Engineering. Pity new motorcycles arn't like this no more.

Sounds like you are well on the way... my original headers are crushed on the outer pipe and a hole near the head in pipe 2 but other than that are usable...lol

I have a spare engine with much better fins etc that will get the 466 big bore kit I have.
Othrt than that my bike is 99% there..it is really just the frame that needs sorting and then chrome, paint, spokes etc...

Sounds like your pretty set with it, which is nice to hear.

Nothing worse than chasing all the original bits in good nick for a fair price.

I have that frame back here... I will shoot you a pic with the fame number on it... just so you can check it out.
they have removed (roughly I might add) plenty of smaller tabs gone.. no centre stand or side stand mounts and the hoop on the RHS for exhaust pipe mount all gone.
I am not sure if I will remove the lower tube.. I might just get some 25mm heavy wall tube and make up a section.
I will get the pics a bit later on and do it via PM

Mate you are a legend, I can make it work i'm sure. When you send it through i'll check the numbers out, if like anything old it never comes up anyway. That would be a big relief for me to have a viable frame tho.
