That small piston looking thing you can see through the top of the carbs is stuck on 1 of my cylinders. It opens by itself but then won't close. It doesn't have anything physically blocking it and I've swapped around the springs and rubber to see if it made a difference but nope. I'm guessing all this does is stuff up the air mix in that cylinder since it's always open.

Anyone encountered this problem and can gimme some advice? None of the parts seem damaged or worn either.

yes its attached by long thin springs attached by like needles and small attaches that resisit the spring from slipping check these things and iam sure its the prob u have and this piston if it doesnot open and close by its correct timings it lead to misorder in the fuel combustion and the motorcycle will not move correctly

Disassemble that carb and clean the piss out of it. Actually clean them all if you are into it that far.

Yep, chances are theres a teeeeency bit of dirt, dust or grime in there that's stopping the slides from returning closed. This will definitely play havoc on your fueling so needs to be fixed immediately.

As FZR Dude said, it's time to strip the carbs down and go through a nice big can of carby cleaner to get them clean! If you can, disassemble everything and spray it all off with carby cleaner, then use compressed air to clean them again. Then repeat that whole process 2 or 3 times and THEN they should be clean.
You'll find that even on the second or third time cleaning them the carby cleaner will come off with a bit of silt or grime, which means they're still dirty.
