Hi guys, I may not have posted before, but I'm an avid zxr lover at 21 with 6 under my belt so far.
Unfortunately my last bike was stolen about 2 months ago so I've started a ground up build- doing everything I know I want to do.

A centre point for this build will be the engine, with an a model crank transplanted into a c. A recent discovery of an a model engine at dirt price has hurried up my planning schedule and I haven't yet done the math on whether the throws, counter weights and bearings will fit. And with only a c workshop manual I can't easily find specs.

If anyone has a wealth of knowledge I would love to hear from you.

    Cheers,
    Bryn, New Zealand

Sounds interesting. If the bearing journals are the same size you will be in luck, but will still need to measure clearances to make sure they are within spec.

Im hoping someone has access to a loose crank or has the spec sheet of an A model workshop manual (are they a rare sight around? Or is it just me) so that I can compare to the c manual and loose cranks i have. Also knowing the absolute circumference of the crank throws and counters would be nice.

    Cheers,

    Bryn

Damn, ive got the hard copy of that workshop manual. I suppose id best just buy this engine without even a theory check. After all theres nothing a mill and cross drill wont fix!

Besides, one can never have too many parts, one can only hsve too small a cupboard!

check the parts fiche for both models and compare part numbers , I know the bore and stroke are different between a and c models maybe the cranks are the same.

The strokes are different, keeping meticulously to the .249l. Im just not sure of the overall dimension of the casting and mains

That would be great Mad. I did buy the motor in the end, unfortunately, it had run a big end and chewed out the journal :( so I now know that the crank fits, with little massaging.. but need a new crank... Wink wink anyone? But I'm sure I'll have a few more questions before this is out!
