I was wondering can you use any brake fluid or does it have to be a bike one.Would a high performance car dot4 fluid be ok.The top of the cap on the reservar has got dot3 or dot4.
Just a matter of matching either the DOT3 or DOT4 that's in there. You can use any brake fluid as long as it's new and the container is sealed.
If you don't know what is in there, its probably best to use a dot 4 and completely flush out the the old fluid with new. Do not use a dot 5 fluid as it is silicon based and incompatible with dot 3 or 4 and will cause coagulation if mixed.
Not to mention DOT5 being almost twice as expensive last i checked. <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->
