Some of you may have seen @U_B_WARE 's post that his Across engine is somewhat tired with low compression, he has decided to purchase Yong's old motor and we are going to seek some help from forum memebrs to help rip his old engine out, and fit Yongs motor.

The plan is for the 16th of August starting at 9am at my place

I live in Birkdale Brisbane if anyone wants to volunteer their time to help then register your interest here

    Cheers

    Chris

Everyone has their own way but this is mine
If its a 6x4, bike will have to be diagonal to fit .
A set of these is the go ..... anything similar and cheap ... 2 for the front , 1 for the rear
    http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/on...iedown-4-6m-454kg-4-Pack.aspx?pid=19262#Cross

I also use these .... keeps the hooks away from the bars , frame or fairings at the front

    http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/on...45cm-454kg-Green-2-Pack.aspx?pid=213430#Cross

If the fairings and front cowlings are off it makes it easier and less prone to damaging them.

Sit the bike in the trailer on the side stand and in gear ...... front is secured each side by the bars (careful of the switchgear, levers etc) or the fork/ triple tree ..... compressing the the forks when tightening helps to stop the front end bouncing during transport.
Rear is just thru the rear wheel pulling it 'back' and down.

    Rough but effective .....

Thanks Grey. the trailer is a longer one so i won't need to put in as a diagonal fit.

When in doubt leave it on its side stand, tie it down and put it in gear... The idea of having it straight is good, But if its on the side stand it wont fall any where and if its in gear with the wheel spun so the chain is tight it wont roll any where... Do the same tie down technique.. Last thing you want is broken fairings...

I tie down bikes like this if I'm in a hurry or if loading the bike on a hill..

OK, here is my 2 cents worth.

Push bike onto trailer, park in centre of trailer.
Side stand down, put in gear.
Attach strap on side stand side 1st, secure a little tight.
Now attach strap to opposite side and begin cranking, bike will become upright.
Once bike is upright it's just a little adjustment till nice and firm.
Single strap over rear of bike to avoid any bouncing on trailer.
Make sure to attach rear strap pulling forward.

Works for me, hope this helps. :thumb_ups:
