    hey all

i was riding down the freeway when i started to hear this clicking noise...it seemed to stem from teh engine somewhere...
my accelaration started to drop so i pulled over to the side of the road...i had a quick look thinking mayb something had caught in my chain..
seeing nothing i tried totake off again which i did for a couple of hundred meters hoping that what ever was obstructing would dislodge itself...
it didnt and whatever was making the clicking noise jammed and i lost all motion..
i tried to start the bike and it seems as though the engine had completely seiezed up...
would this be something stuck somewhere in my enigine?
    or another problem?
i did use a new fuel jus before the incident, shell racing fuel, could this have anything to do with it??
all feedback would be appreciated as id like to check it out myself before taking it to a mech which will no doubt cost me a few $$$$
    cheers

You need to see whether the engine will turn over without the starter. You can try pushing her in gear, or better yet taking an engine cover off and getting a decent spanner onto the end of the crank and trying to turn her over. Try first out of gear. That will tell you whether she's seized.

Sounds a lot like when I melted a piston- similar sort of symptoms. Mine was from air leaking in through cracked intake manifolds.

Not likely that the fuel caused the problem. You will have to start pulling her down to see what really happened. I'm sorry but I dont think it will be pretty.

Where abouts are you- maybe someone can lend a hand?

Shell racing is 100 octane and contains 5% ethanol, the 100 octane will cause your engine to ping (possibly the clicking noise) as the fuel is ignited when its not supposed to (spl), you should drain the fuel immeditatly and refuel with 95 octane, dont bother with 98 as it will be of minimal benefit or even slightly worse off.

In saying that the fuel should not jam an engine (i beleive) this could be gearbox (mine jammed and blew out the 4th cyclinder) or crank etc. try what brad said.

    Good luck
