Things that were just done:

-head stem bearings replaced
-fork seals replaced
-carbies cleaned & balanced
-spark plugs replaced
-gaskets replaced

Total: $515 parts and labour included.

Although this was a job I would've loved to do myself as it would give me a heap of hands on experience, I wanted the bike back up and running ASAP so I could get practice in before I go for my P's.

The FZR runs VERY nice now.
Idling used to be fairly rough, but is now extremely pleasant to listen to!

Now all that needs to be done is a set of fairings to be shipped from Melbourne and the guy to repair the rest of my fairings, sand down and then sprayed.
Front cowl is chipped with a lot of cracks, which the guy says he can fibreglass back to shape. Repair and retint the screen.
Tank needs a little bit of work. Some rust built up from previous owners track incidents.
Tail has some cracks that needs to be welded back.
I told the guy I was going to slowly strip the engine so I could clean it spotlessly and he said that he can do that before he does the respray and that I can help him out so I can see how things come apart/go together.

Fairings - around $300 shipped to Sydney for both sides.
Repairs and painted - around $600

Estimated cost to get the bike back in mint condition, including purchase price, roughly $2500.

Pics will come soon. The bike is still cosmetically challenged, which you will see the condition on Sunday during our coffee meet.
Give it some time, and I'll post up pics of the process as it goes on.

Yeah, definitely got the bike for a good price.
If I bought one that was more than $2k I would have been looking for one that wouldn't need any work.

I'm probably hoping for about $2.5-$3.5k depending on the condition of it when it comes time to moving on.

There's a guy from Netrider, nickname evil r1.
He's the one that did all the work for me.
Very nice guy, very straight forward, and out to screw over all the bike mechanics that rip everyone off!
