I've got this problem with my new bike. I'll be cruising along and everything is fine but sometimes when I'm taking of from a stop ill be in first trying to move but the revs won't rise above about 2000rpm. I can be full throttle and pumping the clutch but it makes NO difference in what the bike's doing. As soon as I take my hand of the throttle the bike will die and won't start up again (usually).

It's happend to me 3 times now and it leaves me stuck in traffic like an idiot. I've can get it to start up by push starting it but this requires the assistance of a little hill or my friend pushing the back of my bike. Not ideal.

Anyone know what it could be? Spark Plugs? Or maybe the idle is to low because if I play with the throttle when stopped it seems not to do it.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thx.

Sounds like it's either bogging down or flooding.
What rpm are you taking off at?
Have you tried taking off and slipping the clutch a bit more to keep the engine speed up?

If your technique is ok then it's time to start looking at the fuelling which means...
    1. Clean your air filter
    2. Clean your carbs
    3. Make sure your EXUP is operating and properly adjusted

Might also be worth changing the plugs just for good measure.

ok man i will tell y whats happening ur carbies are flooding with excess in fuel its not from spark plugs its carbies floats problems i suggest a mechanicar solve it 4 u if u have no experience he should bent the floots needles in a way that the floot will close more early (before the flooding ) before u fix it i will tell u inorder not to stay stuck and have no idea what to do u have to ways when ur bike stuck u can turn off ur engine and after turning it off try turning it on on the electrical starter but WITHOUT USING CHOKE OR THE FUEL PEDDLE starter alone only several several electric starter pusch it will burn the excess and turn on normally but after after alot of starter push or u may when it is stuck keep the engine on and try lessing the peddle amount slowly slowly if u less it rapdily it will turn off try making the engine stay onn in the minimum peddle press needs a time then come back normally i suggest to use the second method coz the first may damage the battery and the electrical starter by the time and reply to me if they works

I probably take of at about 5000rpm therabouts and my bike is missing the exup cables and/or valve. Since I'm a new rider the throttle isn't doing exactly what I want it to ALL the time so it might be a bad takeoff on my part.

I'll get a chance to look at the problem better on the weekend.
Thanks for the replies, I'm learning ;)

So your bike has the EXUP collector box but not valve, servo or cables?
If thats the case then that definitely won't help! The EXUP valve creates an exhaust restriction that is necessary at low rpm due to the cam overlap. If the backpressure is not present at low rpm it means the engine will bog down very easily making it difficult to get off the line.

Your options are to either take off from the lights with a fistful of throttle and a decent amount of clutch slipping, or perhaps think of reinstalling the EXUP gear.

    Could be a few things

Re: engine stopping. I have had that with my bike for a short period and wreckin it was caused by bad fuel as the problem went away shortly after a refueling from a differend scorce.
Re: Not starting. If your engine only starts when you push start it and not by use of the starter motor this is a sign of a bad battery or low battery level, when the starter motor draws current from a weak battery the volt drop in the system can prevent the coil from getting enough power to create a spark.
    Hope this helps.

    Sparks blacken each month

hii iam facing same problem each 1 month approximatly my spark plugs are damaged will not give spark properly which lead to dead run in the engine i replace them the next month same thing happened when iam removing them iam recognaizing the spark plug colour is dark dark black i know its sign of incorrect combustion which means carbs needs balance but iam not sure what exactly i must do since the bike start normally at any time (cold or hot ) iam not facing flooding problems is this a sign that iam having a low amount of air in the combustion which means that i must increase the amount of air ??? coz i think if the fuel amount is the prob it might makes problmes like flooding or not turning on easily when its cold but iam facing none of those any one have an idea ?? is it right as iam thinking lack of air leading to blacken the sparks ? in addition ianm sure its not fromt he spark plugs coz iam bringing the best qualaties

    Re: Sparks blacken each month

my spark plugs might be damaged also so I'll make sure to look at that, I havn't really taken a good look at it yet since i've been busy but I'm thinking that upping the idle speed is a temp fix for now. I hope my spark plugs aren't black :S
    thx for the advice

I'm not sure if I know which screw the idle speed is. I was under the assumption it was the one under the airbox in the middle of the carbies but now I'm not so sure. It's a 2kr can someone point me in the right direction?
