    That sucks!

Fortunately for me I was never in that situation - my mom encouraged me to get bikes (she loves them herself, though she is more a cruiser type). When I moved to australia she said that it was the most economical transport, and she trusts me so she thought it would be a good decision.

geez, think you're in the minority there Boz..my parents aren't happy about me getting my bike licence, but my dad used to ride, so how can he complain?

Besides, I live away from home now and am 25, so not much they can do to stop me. I thnk they know I'm pretty level-headed and will take it easy (mostly).

The gf wasn't too happy either, but she's not going stop me, I've wanted to ride for years and finally got my licence and a bike..

Ahhh Yes the Girlfriend, My girlfriend was very hard to convince expecially because she does not have a ring on her finger, and I want to go an spend money on a bike that only I can enjoy, I have to keep reminding her that as soon as I get my full licence she is on the back and we are riding all weekend. I also tell her that we are saving money with the price of petrol at the moment.

Yeah I got that too...how are we going to go anywhere unless I have my car at your place? Part of the reason I want to get a bike is because it gives me a chance to get out on my own for a while, without her!

Besides, she just bought herself a new RAV4, so why shouldn't I get a bike? That was my argument, and it worked.

Next step is to get my bike back from mechanic and register it, then I can hit the road after I've had my licence a month already...

I was the same, But I had my licence for 3 months before I went for a ride. I had my bike in the mechanics to get the carbies looked at aswell.
Cost me $300 to get them balanced, But I think it is money well spent because the last thing you want is your bike running rough or not starting properly. The mechanic I took it to spent 3 days trying to get it right, he told me that it was a real pain in the ass.

Just gotta find one that appreciates bikes. Mine (now my wife) grew up with a father who loved bikes. I bought my bike after I met her, and her father helped me with this too (got me a great deal!!). My wife has already said that she will never take my bikes away from me... <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

My wife was a little upset when I sold the Shadow and bought the FZR. But hey, she never went riding with me anyways. She just wants me to be careful is all.
