LOL the FZR250 runs very rich in it's natural state.... the posibility (and I find that is the couse most of the time) is simple... you don't rev it out much... these bikes have a major problem with carbon built up especialy amplified when they are short changed... below 10,000 RPM...I belive this is caused by the EXUP as that is when it opens up fully... so any thing under 10,000 runs very very rich and it is futer sestricted from clearing out the exhaoust by the EXUP...

yeah..you could be right. It blows a bit of black smoke (quite a bit actually) if I rev it hard after it's been sitting for a while...the mechanic a while ago told me somethign similar, that I need to ride it more often.

As for the rings...I guess I would notice some sluggishness if the rings were worn, and it seems to go as well as always. Maybe I should check the compression in the cylinders - are those compression gauges that you just stick in the spark plug holes one at a time while turning the engine over available for bikes?

As a general rule, Compression Testers come with a plethora of different adapters to fit a wide variety of applications.

    So yeah, it would. [IMG]

Sorry just had to use the word.

    Hi Tbone,

what i have found out is that the fuel pump will run for 5 seconds when you switch on the bike then stops. it then will carry on pumping once you have started the bike. I have installed a FAcet 1.5 to 4 PSI pump. So far the bike starts without using the choke (which has not happened for 4 years) and idols well. I will be using it tomorrow so i will post a message on the forum of exactly what i have done to the carbs etc to get it running like it does.
Hope it willa ssist all out there.

    Cioa,

    Trevor.
