tapered bearings cannot be greased once fitted. to grease put wheel bearing grease on left hand, drag the bearing through at angle with right hand until grease comes out between each roller. after one roller done go to next roller by rotating whole bearing. keep doing one at a time till all done. the idea is to get grease behind the rollers. to fit use a copper or brass drift so not to chip any steel. to adjust tighten until pressure is felt and rotate head stem or swing arm until there is free movement but neither sloppy or tight.
Can you make a video Risky? That slicing/dragging the grease technique needs to be seen to be really understood.
sorry mate. am a techno gumbo. just do as as i say and the draggin action brings the grease up behind the rollers and out between them. if you put grease on the outside the pressure areas are left dry.tapered bearings are the same in cars.
no grey hairs on those arms.lol.I use castrol disc brake wheel bearing grease. if it lasts under heat, cold, wet, mud etc it must be good.
I was taught this as an apprentice 30 years ago. I like how he talks about everything being clean, but leaves the grease tin open. My boss would have slapped the back of my head for doing so. I was also taught not to force it in too hard or you will over pack the bearings, which causes them to overheat.
