Guy I though I did give you an update as things are slow on here at the moment..

Today I removed the little 3" fan from the radiator and put a new 8" one on and it works great.. sounds like a hurricane is coming down the road when the fan is on and it cools a lot better too.. Had to do some modifcation to the bike to get it to fit tho. Like bend the thermo switch pins side ways and make a new connector for the wires and get it sitting just right as it sitts on the tappet cover of the motor and only just fits but it does fit... I put on an extra manual switch to just so I can turn them on to let the bike cool down a bit before I turn it off..

Also I throw in a new heavy duty battery for the bike just for kicks but it works a lot better then the old one did .. if any one wants the part number and make I can give it to you if you want just ask me.. I also have the old part Number of the old battery as well..

My next mod I want to do is stick a turbo timer on it so I can let it cool down without waiting with the bike.. I know a turbo timer on a non turbo Bike.. have a laugh.. but I had it to all my cars and it works great

Any questions Just ask I will be happy to answer you or can send you pictures of the settup to if you want..

ok here goes..

the old battery was a menshy 12n9 -3b

The new one is a Champion 10la2 ( its a bit high so the rubber belt is a very tight fit ) (but it has a lot more power in it)

The 8" thermo is a ICE Thermo 8" push fan ( it is revesable Just turn the blade around and the wires that is blue to black and black to blue)

remove side covers and then remove the radiator hoses and remove radiator.. I changed the hose over to as they were old looking.. you have to remove the round plastic part from the thermo switch and bend the pins side way one in each direction and cut the plug off that goes to the switch as it doesn't fit with the pins bent over and put two sheilded female blade connectors on the ends of the wire....

I also put in a manual switch as well so if i know i'm just about home i can flick them on and cool the bike right down so its not stopped while the water is hot ( this takes the pressure off the cooling system)

I then cut the plug off the old thermo fan and soldied it to the new one screw the fan to the radiator with supplyed bolts and clips and the fit it back to the bike. it is a tight fit as the fan sits on the tappet cover of the motor and switch pins that you bent over and has a just a small amount of space at the top for the bolt to go back in.. this is the only fan i have found that will fit the bike and i have looked at a few of them...

when putting the fan onto the raditor i as put a run of puff tape on it ( you know the foam tape about 7mm thick and sticky on one side you can get it from the hardware shop for like $1.30 a metre.. i used it to fill in any caps to so the only place the fan can get air is from the other side of the radiator) This is important as the more air that comes through the radicator the better it works ( FILL ALL GAPS )

I have picture of it one the bike but cann't post them up on the furom for some reason.. so drop me an email with fzr250 thermo fans in the subject heading and i will send them to you

email is eafan@dodo.com.au

TOTAL COST
fan and battery and hose (a comadore heater hose) $110
puff tape $1.30
2 x connectors $0.90
manual switch $2.40
wire and solder $1.00

total of $115.60

it takes about 1 1/2 hours to do this includes cleaning out the radiator as well..

like i said if anyone would like to see the pictures just email me
