It looks like my Balius has gone up a kerb or worse in its life. This has led to a tiny crease across the fork legs on the lower steering clamp of the triple clamp. My question is if you were to continue using the tubes being satisfied they were not unsafe.... how would you orientate the crease when the legs are back in the clamp ? My initial thinking is having them facing outwards sideways as this takes the accelerating and braking forces away from them and concentrates it in areas with no crease at the clamp. Is this too stress engineery for me. I am wondering. Rolling legs on flat surface shoes them to be straight and below clamp with no internal chaffing to springs or inside of tubes. Your thoughts on this are welcome.
I recon that is an potion to consider. Cheaper to get some used stanchions. Even new ones are only £108 which on my resto outlay would still be good. I have seen fork straightening offered for £100 so used pair forks a no brainier as will have all intervals too. ER5 is a match for Balius. Not sure of other common models...
Leave the crease's facing forward or backward for the time being, until you have it fixed properly. Having them out to the side's will bow the fork leg's and may cause issue's (binding) with the stanchion's when they are travelling up and down through the bush's of the fork leg's https://www.brooksuspension.co.uk/fork-stanchions/suzuki.html
