As part of round 4 of the Pirelli Southern Downs Road Race Series there will be a parade for registered motorcycles and their riders/pillions on Sunday the 2nd of August, during the lunch time break.

The parade will give riders an opportunity to ride on the circuit and experience the track from a racers perspective. There is nothing like riding a track to experience the extent of the elevation, see exactly how little the racers can see on the blind turn 3 under the bridge, the hairpins of turn 4 and turn 6. See if you notice the dip on the apex of turn 7 that makes it exceedingly difficult to get perfect drive out of it. Next you have to deal with the bumps through the very fast turns 8 and 9. See how the riders can so easily get sucked in to turn 10 too early, and then see if you can see the best way through the final chicane before the front straight.

Morgan Park Raceway is a riders circuit, and this is your opportunity to see exactly what the racers are riding on. So get out to Round 4 of the Pirelli Southern Downs Road Race Series at Morgan Park Raceway in the lovely town of Warwick and be a part of the action! It's a sensational ride over the range from Brisbane the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast, or a short ride from Toowoomba.

    How to participate:
Participants will need to sign-on between 10am and 11am Sunday morning.
    • All riders must hold a current Australian motorcycle licence.
    • Machines must have current registration - track/race machines are not eligible.
    • All riders/passengers must attend the Scrutineering Bay between times, to be nominated, to sign on and receive helmet stickers. Machines to be parked in the area adjacent to the Scrutineering Bay.
    • All riders/passengers must attend a short briefing by the Clerk of Course prior to the commencement of the parade lap at a place and time to be advised.
    • All riders/passengers must wear normal protective riding gear (helmet, boots, gloves, jackets, jeans etc)
    • No hand held camera’s, fixed bike mounted cameras are allowed on the track.
    • All participants must stay behind the lead rider.
    • This is not a track day or an opportunity to go as fast as you can, this is an opportunity to take a lap of the track and see first hand how it flows.

What a great day, I wasn't sure if the 400 would be registered in time so I didn't plan a ride on here, my alarm went off at 6:30am, I thought bugger it, Im going. It was a tad chilly and I shivered for the first hour then coming into Aratula, I ran out of fuel, switched to reserve and filled up at the Shell. Once over Cunningham's Gap, it started to warm up a bit. I arrived at Morgan Park at about 9:30 and had a chat with @Brizfox @Mclaren , @Glenn22 and @simidau. Pat was making a few running repairs as his ignition switch fell off in the previous race, quote of the day goes to Pat's Dad who did a run into Warwick to get a replacement switch, his comment was "It might say Super cheap on the sign... but" .

The Parade lap was led by Simon and was alot of fun, I cracked up the riders briefing where one of the guys asked if it was okay to stay under 170 as he was still running in his bike , cool and collected the Clark of the Course politely let him know this was a parade lap only and we probably wouldn't go past 100... a few nervous laughs then we got out kit on and did 3 laps of the track.

Not long after the parade lap, I decided to head for home, I am absolutely snookered as I have had a big weekend. The CBR400 ran like a top, although I have to say I might be seeing the chiro tomorrow, my back is killing me. I never had this problem on the CBR250RR, its strange, will see how I feel tomorrow.

Congrats to Simon who set a PB of 1.26 something , I think he said it was the fasted lap at Morgan park on a 250cc bike. Also McLaren and Brizfox who both improved on their PB's.
