    Have you checked out the netrider coffee nights? I attend those on a semi-regular basis, and there are usually 1 or 2 fzr250's that show up too. Friday nights at Southbank, and Monday nights in Malvern. Great turn out (largest I have seen is around 70 bikes down at southbank - in the winter probably average around 30), and a chance to meet a wide range of riders.

    Yeah, i get along on occasions... so the regulars with the FZR's are usually me & Roderz on his fighterised 3LN3.
    If there was a push for all of us to get down on a particular Friday than id be sure to get down there... so someone elect a Friday and we'll get some fizzer support down there. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

    Roderz has abandoned his fzr... he is now on a fighterised yzf600.

    Boz,

    Didn't you abandon Your FZR in favor of the YZF750? <!-- s:roll: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_roll.gif" alt=":roll:" title="Rolling LoL" /><!-- s:roll: -->

    yup! Seems like a popular progression. I know 2 others that abandoned their fzr250's for yzf600's as well. (one of them actually sold roderz his now yzf600).

    Heh, and there i was looking at the YZF600's aswell. I think i'm gonna have to chase up a YZF1000 and fighterise it just be a little different. ;)

    Yeah, i knew Roderz upgraded but hadnt been down there for a month or two now... been insanely busy with uni. <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->

    Go for the yzf750 if you can find one! <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> (You can fighterise it and I will buy your fairings! Can always use a spare set just in case)

    If you really want the power of the 1000 then put the 1000 engine in the yzf750. Something I want to look into more one day - I think it would be a fun project (and apparently relatively straight forward).

    you know i was also looking at moving up to a yzf when the time comes - seems like a good price for an underrated and very capable bike. Then i heard a tuned-up trx850 (big twin boom) and i gotta say that's the new favourite!! <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> anyone heard any stories bout these bikes??

    TRX850's are awesome machines! But i used to chat with a guy who worked round the corner from me, and he said his spent as much time in the hills as it did in the shop. Can't remember the exact complaint though.

    TRX's are fun. I've ridden one a few times (my father-in-law owns one). Doesn't have the same power as the yzf600, but has a more torque. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.motorbikes.be/en/compare/898/1348/">http://www.motorbikes.be/en/compare/898/1348/</a><!-- m -->

    Great sound - even unmodded. While not ideal for pillions I have had a pillion on it for about a 1.5 hour ride with no complaints. In my opinion they look nice too! While inline 4's give you that gradual increase in power, with the trx it's just there right from the beginning. My father-in-law loves it as he does not like revving a bike high to get power.

    Main complaint is the fuel range. Lucky to reach 200 k's on an 18 litre tank.

    Lots of parts available too because the tdm 850 shares the motor and most other bits.

    Cool. It seems with twins you've got to live with a few more mechanical gremlins and the fuel econ problems - i've heard the same stories about honda vtrs (fuel not reliability) and of course the obvious ducati reliablility issues. Still got a while to think about it, though <!-- s:???: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":???:" title="Confused" /><!-- s:???: -->

    A bunch of netriders and others meet up at Southbank every friday night - there are usually a few fzr's that turn up. They also have a monday night coffee night (not as popular, but still good fun) in Malvern. Usually start between 6 and 7 and can last till 10+.

    Monday: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.netrider.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5867">http://www.netrider.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5867</a><!-- m -->
    Friday: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.netrider.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4027">http://www.netrider.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4027</a><!-- m -->

    I attend each about once per month and there are some regulars, some not so regular, and newcomers are always welcome.
