So I picked up another ZXR250C the other day as I had no bikes to work on. Last ridden and registered 3 years ago, obviously had been dropped and the guy no longer had the will to ride.
First up thought I better see if I can get it running before doing any of the cosmetic stuff so I drained the fuel out the tank, replaced a fuel hose and fitted a couple of hose clamps where there were none, removed sheared air box bolts from the carbies, dropped ta bowl off to see if there was any crap but was all clean. Re assembled put a new battery in and it fired up after a few seconds of cranking. I adjusted the idle and it idles beautifully and responds instantly to throttle inputs. Exhaust was way too loud so have ordered a standard muffler off ebay. Ordered a new clutch lever and brake pads.
I spent Sunday morning repairing the fairings and they are now ready for spraying. Tyres are only 4 years old with 5000km on them and are like new so no need for new tyres. So in about another week I will put it on the market for some lucky bugger who needs a fun bike (I love mine). IMG_2276-preview 3.JPG IMG_0657.JPG IMG_0656.JPG IMG_0655.JPG

Good work. Any idea what you'll want for it?

I think $3250, new battery, new front brake pads (rears are like new), tyres are near new, rust free tank. Bike is not perfect but is pretty good. Have not ridden it yet but starts are runs fine. Clutch seals and service was last done 5000km ago according to previous owner. IMG_0660.JPG IMG_0661.JPG IMG_0662.JPG

If it does not sell I'll part it out and keep the bits I want as spares for mine.

I'd probably be interested in just the engine if it has good compression, but I'm sure someone will buy the whole bike for $3k.

Well I have listed it for sale, we shall see how it goes. No more projects for a while. Summer is near its time to get outdoors. I will give it a couple of weeks to sell if it does not sell I am going to disassemble it, keep all the new stuff as well as the fuel tank and the air ducts, then sell off the rest. I wouldnt pay $3250 myself unless it was near perfect and registered , but then it looks good in pics and complete .... instead of parting out a running , complete ZXR I would be storing it away as they can only appreciate in value

$3250 is the starting price, no point registering it as you cant transfer Club Registration in Victoria. If someone makes a reasonable offer its gone. I sold my MC22 the other day to a collector. I'm just keeping my MC19 and Silver ZXR250. I could always just drain the fuel and throw it under a blanket in my factory but would rather someone make use of it.
