Help Ahh! ZXR250 wont idle!

    Hi guys! , just bought a 1991 zxr250 but cant get it to idle.

    So far i have replaced the carb with a second hand also cleaned and adjusted that one. Will run ok on choke but dies as soon as its taken off choke it dies. Havnt even got to take it for a ride yet D:

    have you adjusted the idle screw ? Also when you adjusted them, what did you do ?

    Just adjusted the basics, mixture screw 2 and a half turns out, float level checked and ok. Just cant figure it out.

    Hmm i did clean them but thats a possiblity the carb was full of gunk. Would it be worth rebuilding the carb?

    I will have a look for vac leaks tomorrow. If not i will order a kit. Doez it include needle amd seat, and jets?

    The litetek kit replaces all the carb seals. I just done mine and it has made it so much easier to start. It idles a lot better now as well. It doesn't have the jets, seats and needles.

    1937 Royal Enfield 250, CF Moto 250 V5, Honda's XL250, CBR250, FT500 plus a few others.
    Sound like an air leak if you need the choke on for it to run.

    Is it an a model? If so the only vacuum lines are from the carb boots and to the fuel tank. If mine is disconnected from the tank it doesn't idle.

    Its looking like it could be overfueling, pulled the carb out and bowls off checked the floats and it dumping fuel in when the needles are shut.....Could it be as simple as needle and seat?

    Seal kit and new needle and seats it is! Thanks guys. I will keep you posted on how it goes.

    Slide the little pin, I use a small flat blade to get it started
