Hey fellas, Just making a new thread in the proper section about my issues (just copied and pasted) and see if I can get a few ideas... A few flat spots getting up to 8,000rpm and once it hits 12,500-13,000, it just dies. Also when it gets hot, there is no power down low at all (if on an incline can make it hard to get moving, needs a lot of RPM) Also when it's hot it idles around 3,000-4,000 rpm. Had a look at a couple of things today... Looks good inside the top of the carbies, the slides looked alright to me (although I didnt take them out, but appeared to be fine), the black bodies also looked brand new. So unless they were recently replaced, I'm assuming the 4,400klm is completely legit. However, I believe my problems are electrical, it is now blowing black smoke, and smells of unburnt fuel. The idle also will not sit properly at one spot. The plugs colour looked fine, but I think could do with a replacement anyway. The lead to #1 is pretty much stuffed, fell apart in my hand as I took it off, only a couple of corroded strands making contact. Anyone know where I can get a new set of plugs? Cheers, Brendan.
Hmm, plugs are easy, your local bike should have some... NGK CR7HSA Across's always have to be revved to get going, but ..... not as hard you bad as you say you have to on your bike. If your blowing black smoke and you have flatspots, I would suggest your air\fuel ratio is well out and you may have worn slides, perhaps getting your bike serviced and the carbys cleaned will go a long way to sorting your issues. as for your plug leads, try and replace them as well.
Ah, sorry I meant the leads, plugs are easy to get yeah. No idea where to get the leads, are they still made for these or anything else that can be used in place? A tune up/balance is on the books, will probably get done this weekend. I was just thinking that a weak spark could possibly do the same?
So I leaned out the carbies a bit and it is running quite a bit better but still not perfect. The black smoke is almost all gone. While there are still a couple of flat spots, it is much smoother and now revs out past 16k (took it to 17 a couple of times). The adjuster screw to cyl #2 is loose as all hell though, could probably turn it with a finger. Would still like to replace the leads though. Resistance on them is between 11-12 ohms though, but they dont look/feel that great.
As the GSX250F was Australian delivered, so you should be able to get them new from your local Suzuki dealer, or try findapart.com.au if you want 2nd hand ones. Chris
