Hi, this might end up involved but we'll see.
i have been working on and off on this bike for 12 months atleast, carbies have been cleaned a number of times plugs are wet spark coming from leads tryed with air box on and off, tryed with starter spray and just trying to let it start normally, have changed around the A/F screws to see if thats an issue. Pump is working fuel is there.

So i have new plugs and spark, fuel is going through the carbs ( plugs are wet when pulled ) and plenty of air 3 main things to make it run. the plug leads were in the wrong order according to this link : https://2fiftycc.com/index.php?thre...eads-spark-plug-configuration-inline-4s.8176/

before i found the plugs were wrong i think it was running on 1 maybe 2 cylinders, actually pulling 2 would cut the engine and pulling 1 would some times and some times not, pulling 3 and 4 did nothing.
changed the plugs to the correct arrangment and now wont run even like before this is where i am stuck. it almost seems like its being flooded. i have tryed fuel off and just starter spray fuel on and started spray wont run now

last point/idea the coils have 2 incoming leads 1 in orange other is black/yellow i believe does anyone know what order those need to be plugged in to the coils
(sitting on the bike the right coil is top orange bottom black/yellow Left is Black/yellow top orange bottom)

very long winded but i wanted to show what has already been ruled out thank you in advanced :)

Across coils are left hand is 1 and 4 and right hand is 2 and 3

    C2A5D747-A4CD-47B9-8513-199A265506C6.jpeg

the coils are fed by 2 wires , one is a 12v feed and one is a trigger , if yiu turn the ignition on, you should see 12V at the coil with a meter

best way to check you coils is to put your meter on ohms and measure the impedance from each cap on 1 and 4 and then 2 and 3 , let us know what you get results wise , just pop your 2 probes up the caps and share your results.

how are you starting the bike . ? Across is best started with full choke, no throttle

the air / fuel mix screws on the across can be problematic , from memory they should be 1.5 turns out , can yiu pull them out, you should have a screw, spring, metal washer and rubber washer , see pic from litetek.co

    B9921F13-AC1A-4245-A5BB-A06BD8337008.jpeg

Wind them in until you feel resistance, then back out 1.5 turns , if the bike won’t stoat back them out another 1/8 of a turn

What is the history of the bike, mileage, how long did it sit ?

Have you pulled the pilot jets and make sure they are clean and you can see a pin ***** of light ?

okay thank you very much for this info so far nothing is working but im working with a flat battery it was charged this morning, i have found out that coil 2 the plug wires were switched, outside of that i havent had much of a chance to crack it enough to try to get it to go, i have tryed with the starter spray and she sounds like she wants to go but isnt getting there.
as i said at the start the carbs have had everything that can be pulled out of it done so and cleaned up, all jets checked and sprayed and blown out using a air compressor.
ever since i changed 2 - 3 leads from wrong to correct i havent been able to get it to fire at all (re reading it now, the plugs were correct because they were in the coil wrong but now all fixed so should start running like it was, shitty) and looking at the diagram of the leads its all now 100% correct including the 2 wires powering the coil. i used the electro meter to check they were correct (the coil calles them + and - and just made sure they were reading correctly and re attached)

Have you checked the ball bearings in the float bowl ? It is part of the choke circuit

you can’t remove them, if you cant hear them moving then the choke won’t work properly

and these bikes need a good strong battery

I've only ever worked on one of these bikes, but all the online reading I've done seems to suggest the dual barrel carbs are prone to flooding. I need some parts off an across, so if you get to the stage where you want to sell it as a non-runner, let me know via a PM. Good luck with it.

so the choak is working* and i got it running* but cylinders 3 and 4 arent seeming to be playing the game, its running on 1 and 2. i pull the plugs and they are both wet with fuel and are producing spark when tested with their leads i have no idea how they are wet but dont fire when back in and cylinders 3 and 4 both run off different coils. i would say its a carb issue but like i said they are wet with fuel. compleatly stumped.

Pull the airbox off and place your hand over the right hand carb while you have it running , do cylinders 3 and 4 kick in ?
