My 82 Suzuki GSX250 was stored for few years and although it now runs OK at speed there is absolutely no idle. It cuts out before I come to a stop. Any Ideas please ?
Do I have to take them apart or can I just buy some spray and squirt it through the air intake ? Thanks.
At least pull the bowls off and remove the jets and blow compressed air through them and the passages in the carb body.
Mine used to do that too when it was flooding. Carbs need a good clean, drop the bowls off and see what you find. Don't go spraying things as some carby cleaners will eat away the seals and you'll end up worse off. Full disassembly and clean would be ideal, but if the bowls aren't full of sludge you may get away with a basic clean. After that you need to check your pilot screws and idle settings. I'd go one step further than murdo and use a bristle from a wire brush and gently rub the insides of the jets. Air may clear a blockage but it won't always clear build up that could be throttling back the fuel flow. If there are any tiny jets use the bristle of a tooth brush. Basic clean (providing you can get the damn bowl screws off) should be a 30 minute job.
