Having owned a few 250's over the years, I have found that I enjoy the 4 pot screamers the best such as the CBR250RR, GSX250F, ZXR250 et al , they rev like theres no tomorrow and are generally alot of fun. I have looking for a decent FZR250 to have a play with and found a cracking review of the GSXR250 and FZR250, I must admit after reading the article that the reveiwer seemed to have  blast but finished with the comment :

Odd that anyone bothered to build a 250 four stroke in the first place. Who buys them? They're nowhere against a KR-1S or RGV in handling, torque or power.

While I appreciate the 2 strokes are fun and bloody fast, Im not sure I want to be rebuilding them as often as they need doing.. what do you think more power in a 2 stroke or a reliable 4 cyl that revs to at least 18000 rpm?

As reliable as the the 4 stroke are, if u want power go for the 2 banger. There isn't many bikes I couldn't beat on my rgv. And as for rebuilds, yes they are quite frequent but easy to do. Mmmmmm 2 stroke.

A most interesting subject indeed and one that will bring smiles to many who have experienced these wonder machines.

I for one have enjoyed both and reflect with very fond memories my 2 stroke bikes, wether they be road or trail. The mere simplicity of the 2 stroke stands out to me, the ease of maintenance and the inherent reliability and the joy they brought to the rider.

Then came the 4 stroke and one could only marvel at the smooth running of these engines.
I never cease to be amazed when I look at tacho's and see 16.000 redline and beyond, they are incredible pieces of engineering. Of course they are far more complicated engines with many more moving parts, but hey they do it so well.

Is there a strong argument for and against, well not in my book as they have brought me great pleasure and the freedom of the open road and I still enjoy the ride.
