Hi there, I've switched engines with another 2KR engine from another year. It has a more square bottom oil sump than the older one. My problem is my exhuast pipe from cylinder 4 is hitting the bottom of the sump and I can't attach the bolt at the back to hold it up, its about 5cm out.

I'm pretty sure the inside gasket is different too, the oil filter are in different places. The large gasket is stuck on pretty solid i'd make a mess of trying to get it off.

Is it best to cut and extend that part of the exhuast to fit, or switch oil sumps?

    Thanks

I would think altering the pipes would be easier and better all round

Assuming u havnt the equipment to do it yourself take the headers etc and a few photos of the bike (or maybe the bike itself?) to an exhaust shop and they would either re bend the pipe and/or add in a little to clear the sump
