When it's hot, and I idle at a light for (usually) more than 30 seconds, bike stalls when i give it throttle. About 60% of the time high-revving will prevent it but i look stupid. I have been shutting the bike off then restarting when the lights change.
    Runs/idles fine otherwise.
Not real mechanical but would love to sort this myself. cheers.

As per the other VL250 thread, it sounds like the carb needle and seat may be leaking too much fuel into the bowl. This comes from worn needle/seat or the O ring around the brass seat has shrunk/split and is allowing fuel past. When riding at higher revs the engine is able to burn the extra fuel but when you come to idle the bowl floods and engine dies.
These O rings around the brass seat are a Mikuni idea from the original copy of the Amal carbs they first copied from the 1930's, but Amal dropped the idea and went with screw in seats because of too many problems with leaks.

Thanks Murdo, I replied to that thread to find out what the outcome was but it was too old.
I guess I’ll need to take it to the shop.
