    OK, for a GJ73a on Impex - from the schematic 11, part 44 - [note the 15 by the part number]
    https://en.impex-jp.com/catalogs/moto/suzuki/9900b-68027.html

    The part number is;
    https://en.impex-jp.com/parts/new/search.html?partNo=09492-15013

    Checked and verified on Mick Hone that it's a pilot jet #15
    https://www.mickhone.com.au/part/suzuki/0949215013#content

    Once you've removed the pilot jet, if you cross reference the type on MikuniOz [there are different types of pilot jet] - please see here;

    https://www.2fiftycc.com/index.php?...8-26mm-carb-settings-specs-3ln-3yx-zeal.9787/

    Look at the three types, going on the #15 jet yours should have installed, I will lean towards it being one of the bleed types, most likely [hopefully] 8 holes [they don't stock the 6 hole jets in the small sizes], same goes for the non-bleed type, high numbers only.

    Anyway once you've got a jet out to check the type, for the $$ I'd get 4 of the #12.5 and 4 of the #10, given that they're a grand total of ~$9.90 each

    EDIT - They're also available on the motorcycle spares warehouse for less $$

    You may even be in luck with the local dealership for those pilot jets, but keep it to same for same type wise, just get smaller # jets.

    One tip for removing stubborn jets, I've been using a squirt of Inox and then applying heat to the aluminium [using the Inox as an indicator of heat and lubricant] to loosen stuck parts. Heating the aluminium it expands more than many other metals and the Inox sneaks in a assists.

    A small butane or propane torch would be plenty heat wise.

    A well fitting screwdriver is also key, sloppy fitting ones cam out and mangle the heads all too easily.
    Being a retired carpenter you'll likely be all too familiar with slotted screws and their pitfalls, they make me grimace, groan and grumble mostly...

    Thanks again Glen for all the info. I have just ordered the jets through Hatrick , 4 x #12.5 and 4 x #10 . I will measure the remaining jets to determine whether I need to replace them. I will also place an order with Litetek for their Carby kit.
    Thanks Glen I think I owe you a few beers !!
    Thanks again to all ! I'll keep you posted

    Hello all,
    I followed the advise of those members kind enough to share their knowledge regards the starting problem . I have purchased the Litetek Carb kit , a complete set of standard Mikuni jets ( main , pilot, choke ) also manage to get new needle jets and jet needles ( and yes ruckusman the present needles have obvious wear marks on them so thanks for that tip) . In addition to the standard pilot jets (47.5) I got 4off each of the next 2 sizes down for good measure.
    I now have all the parts in hand ,the Carbies have been stripped down and thoroughly cleaned and ready for the refurb.
    Hopefully tomorrow i might be left alone long enough to complete the job .
    Again thanks for the help. I will post again when I have the beast going again.

    OK, while you've got them apart, can you check the fit on a 3mm drill gently [with slight assistance] into the slide where the needle goes.

    If I'm correct it will be a snug fit.

    Also if you have a reasonably accurate set of calipers or a micrometer, measure the needle diameter at the top where the clips go.

    BTW did you mean #15 standard pilot jet, IIRC the 47.5 was the starter [choke] jet.
