20th Jan 2024. G/Day all. JayCee here from Bunbury in Western Australia, I am a new member and have had a bad dose of the "motorcycle enthusiasts disease" ever since I was in my early teens - last century. I have a few bikes both modern & old but am currently thinking about getting a 1985 Yamaha SRX250 purchased several years ago up and running. When purchased, the bike would not start easily and needed a damn good push, but once finally warmed up would run reasonably. The previous owner who said the diaphram looked ok purchased what he was told was the correct carby overhaul kit for TK type 51Y carby pairing on bike. It came from someone in Japan but it appears not to be the right parts. This kit has no brand markings on the packaging, has among others bits & bobs, 2 needle jets (called main nozzles in my Repro Yamaha Service Manual) that have no identification on them that I can find. It also has a pair of needles with numbers Y553S & Y554. My service manual says bike should have needles 5C3A3 in primary carb and 4A703 in other. Kit also does not have any parts for the choke plunger assembly. Can anyone advise what people to contact so I can try to obtain correct parts before I get started ? Many thanks in advance........JayCee.
Hi Mate Sorry for the very late reply. Can you show a picture of the carby kit please , is this the kit ?. I'f it's from the link below , the only part's that doesn't suit the early model SRX 250 ( OZ market ) , is the needle and seat (it doesn't suit the earlier float ) , that's if the carby hasn't been touched that is. Either , purchase the early model needle and seat OR a newer style of float. YAMAHA SRX250 51Y CARB REPAIR KIT | CRUZINIMAGE.NET
