I used Astonish this time last year on another bike I was restoring.............https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.1472476012967071&type=1 click the link to view the restoration. Those with a keen eye, will notice that I have since installed a new larger sink
Bitter sweet today, Carbs rebuilt, had to use donor carbs to go back on the bike, the original carbs were too far gone to rescue. I knocked out the emulsion tubes (not sure how to spell that) from the original carbs and clean up and transplant them along with the original needles into the donor carbs. All galleys blown through, all jets set. I had to use one diaphragm from the original carbs as one of the donor carbs diaphragms had a pin hole in. Job done....
If an engine has been sitting for a long time and then started, it will produce a white smoke - but it tends to disperse if you let the engine run for a while.. this happened to me with a car engine.... and then it was fine.... something to do with condensation build up in the motor....
Thanks gents. Never used easy outs before, don't possess any. The housing has been soaking overnight, so I'm going to clamp what's left of the protruding thread into the vice, then add some heat and see what happens.
If you use easyouts on that make sure you use the smallest one with the right pilot hole as it will split the bolt and crack the housing done that before myself I'd go with electrical contact spray to disovle the crud its better than wd40 I found Then heat heat heat grips and put a fiver in the swear box
I have electrical contact spray (electrician) so will give it a go tomorrow evening. Had the outlaws over tonight, so no play time for me.
Alloy steel stud removing tools ordered. Sadly, i can justify the outlay as there are over 10 broken studs/bolts.
