Hey guys. Got my self a cbr250rr, had it a week and only just took it out for a big blast through the hills and i have a few questions about it now. 1- only goes in N easily in gear. I think this is due to the chain being too tight - will adjust and see. 2- there is a knocking coming from the left foot peg. Only comes on when underload, if i let go of the throttle it stops. - could be tight chain?? 3- i never noticed this on my test ride only when i rode it for 4hours in the hills. when riding in a straight line, the handle bars are aimed slightly to the right. how can i determine if it's bent forks or just needs adjustment. And if adjustment is needed....how lol Thats all for now... Thanks guys! Colin
the forks issue sounds like your forks arent running inline theres loads of utube vids showing you how to set them correct basically you stand the bike upright rear paddock stand is ideal set your bars straight go round to the front of the bike and by eye see if the wheel is off line if it is loosen everything below the top yoke pinch bolt ( lower yoke brace / fender bolts / caliper / wheel hub ) then bounce the bike up - down on the forks to square it all back up normally happens if its been bumped up a kerb
Thanks, just found a video after i sent that message but it was showing a hyabusa. But it should essentially be the same? Looks like I need a paddock stand
buy a bottle brush for your bright wheels... sounds like the left foot peg is bent.. when mine was bent the chain was hitting it... thats only a COULD BE
I was thinking it could be a bent peg as im sure the gear lever is slightly bent. Ill get a picture to see if any if you can judge if its bent. Its definitely been on its side during its life so it could be
when you get bobbins, let me know, I've a spare paddock stand that can be used to do some looking and fixing.
if you think its been on its side the im 100% sure your front end isnt running true also check rear wheel / chain is runnig straight and your clipons miht be bent aswell
Heres a few pictures of the gear arm. On the 3rd pic you can see where it looks like the arm hit the frame probably from an impact.
So new full rear set is needed? So, i may be a bit uneducated in all this as its my first bike but iv read after market rear sets are set 'more aggressive'. Are there any that are replacements as im just getting used to this bike i dont want any more change ha. Also, could this be a cause of the tapping from the left peg?
If your not used to the bike always go stock. Only need the V bracket and the gear lever. I can help you with the gear lever. As I have retro fitted a ZXR one to my bike. The chain would be hiting the V bracket. That could explain the noise.
Eadc components on Facebook guy called james Irvine who races make rear sets I got a set on order flick him a msg mate
