That was as good as or better than any segment that I've ever seen on Top Gear or any other motoring show, ever!

A lot of people misunderstand 3D printing and scanning. Here is a good video showing what it takes to get an acceptable part in plastic.

And this is also a good one. Printing an airbox.

Great videos... I tried a couple of scanner software for my iPhone and while they were not too bad the y didnt give me the detail I needed for what Iwas scanning... I have used an Industrial 3D Laser Scanner before, I took it to Indonesia and scanned some worn impellers from a 48" pump so the company I worked for could reverse engineer them as it was impossible to buy them in the materials the Mine needed.
This was over 10 years ago now so technology has improved but it was still pretty impressive then.
The scan was then cleaned up and we adjusted it to what we wanted in CAD (cant remember the program name... I didnt get to play with it) by the Engineering draghtsman.
All good fun, one week in every 6 on a remote Indonesian Island... I did that for 4 years and to be honset... that was enough lol

I would have thought it would be easier to just draw the part from scratch in CAD. You would also end up with a better result. The vent doesn't look to be that complex.

I agree, maybe he just wanted to play with the scanner and make the video. Everything looks easy on YouTube when it is not. Just making those airbox lid clips could easily take a week trying to get the desired fit and finish.

@maelstrom that YT video is scary. I love Whitham at the end saying "Thanks, I enjoyed that". I'm not able to ride something like that. I wish I could, but there it is. Amazing machine.

Maybe this guy needs a leason in mechanical sympathy. Just because your engine has a rev limiter it is not a cure all for idiots.

Italian 2-stroke company called Casa Performance who specialise in Lambretta scooters. I'm not a scooter guy, but I'd park one of these in the garage. Be a hoot to rock up at Gunnedah Drag Strip with this thing.

Cool. Looks to be considerably quicker than the Lamretta Li150 I had years ago as a paddock bike.
