Some of you will have a laugh at this... nothings ever simple.. I believe my petcock is missing the spring that should sit behind the diaphragm and force it close when there is no vacuum present... where the hell am I going to find a spring with the right size/loading for this.. I've searched if I can buy the spring but it does not appear to have a part number and the manuals don't explode the petcock to this level.. does anyone have suggestions on where to order a new one? Photo below.
Engineering supply shop, kids toys may have something similar, hobby shop might have one from a remote control car, from inside a pen and rewind to right diameter.
try fleabay for a chinesium copy or a bike wrecker for a stuffed one. the spring is not a strong one.i imagine it is only a generic used in multiple fuel taps.anyone have a vacuum operated petcock that is stuffed?
Looking for suitable donor pens at work haha. In all seriousness thinking I'll try find an old tv remote and pull the battery spring from the back.. will also try a pen spring. Worth a try. Thanks.
Update, I took a pen and rewound the spring to the right diameter. Works a treat for now. Happy days.
Been a while since my last update but noticed i have a few people messaging me re a lot of the above problems i've come across in the past.. So I might as well keep contributing my problems when I come across them. I haven't really done too much else with the bike as I've been busy riding it without hitch and haven't wanted to mess with it! However curiosity has now got the better of me and I want to change my spoked rims to mags. I already bought the original gsx250 mags from a wrecker and the correct size bearings. I've attached a video of the latest problem. Previous owner has worn out the hubs on the back wheel so the bearings are just loose. I understand if I install and don't fix the bearings properly to the hub the wheel will likely rattle/wear and probably be dangerous. I've bought some loctite (No. 641) bearing mount and am going to attempt to fix the issue this way. If anyone has other suggestions let me know it's be appreciated. I've already polished the mags so am determined to get them on.
Attaching a photo of the wheels I bought (post a bit of polish) as well a couple of good examples of cleaned up GSX's with mags for anyone interested.
Looks a tidy bike Marcus some of them look good streetfightered/Cafe racered when done tastefully as yours has but gotta admit I do kinda prefer them standard and out of the models I think the GSX250E has better styling and lines. Mine is currently in need of work I need to get my Ass in gear and get somethin done frame and ancillaries need to go off for blasting and powder coat or paint I've restored the wheels spent hours on the forks bought a GSX750 vented disc as they are the same size and depth and bought new plastics and seat just need a matching tank but it's gettin there.
Mine isn't exactly tasteful just yet, seat needs to be re-upholstered badly (though i've been saying it for about a year). I've also got to change the seals on the forks, the new seals are sitting somewhere ready to go.. I guess i'll try when I change the front wheel over. I've got to say the original GSX250E styling has grown on me.. Kind of makes me want to keep the tail/seat cowl on going forward.
They look like the Enkei/Suzuki wheel's on my Katana GS550M (19x1.85 F, 18X2.15 R), but probably a different size
Pretty much standard to the range those wheels a good many of the Suzuki's had them including the Suzuki GS range / Katana and the GSX250/400/450 bikes etc etc even one model of the earlier GT185 had them which I think was the year just before they introduced the GT200X5 and X7 ..... which also had them, I think they first came out on the Suzuki X1 50cc.
Yeah they were the 'cheaper more 'cost effective wheels for the foreign market Just messin with ya, yeah there were a few models that had those wheels but to be straight my initial comment isn't far off the mark in that 'your type wheels were mainly on bikes from other countries with the exception of the odd few that were imported to the UK 'we mainly had the much better type Like this .... and this.... and this.... I reckon they must have thought those boys over in the UK won't be happy with the others so we'll put em on the bikes we send out to Oz
