    From where I discovered the project, it's based upon the KTM EXC 300 - not sure what emissions standards that bike complies with [too lazy to google ATM].
    AFAIK, the EXC 300 is road legal to register in Australia, whether or not a twin based upon the EXC 300 would be able to be registered is unknown, BUT I do know of someone that transplanted an RZ500 into an R6 chassis and got it registered in Victoria - that's from the RD500/RZ500 forums - awesome project BTW
    VicRoads didn't care about the 2 stroke -v- 4 stroke engine BTW, it was simply an engine change to them.

    Well, strictly speaking in Victoria, an engine swap for something that is non standard requires engineering certification.
    A swap like for like is fine. But a swap to an entirely different engine would need $$$ spent to get it engineered.

    He didn't need an engineers cert because the capacity didn't increase and VicRoads didn't seem to care about 2 stroke -v- 4 stroke

    I'll see if I can find the forum thread, it was an impressive piece of work

    He was lucky. Clearly he found someone at VicRoads that was friendly, naive or a combination of the two.
