    Here is the front barrel and one of the powervalves, the PV's are so dirty, its a real challenge to clean them, I now have it soaking in 3bond

    had an eventful day, I decided to get the new pistons and rings in, she has new pistons, rings, small ends, base gasket, head gasket, new gudgeon pins and circlips. I started reassembling the bike when I realised that I didn't listen to my advice, I found that 2 dowels left over, lucky I hadn't started torqueing it up, anyway both pistons are now in with new gaskets, just need to work on the power valves and the top end rebuild is complete.

    My family do complain that I spend too much time on the internet or my phone, but it certainly pays off with some of the finds that I have had, @Phil , the goal is still Xmas, there is loads to do, now the engine is semi complete, the next step is to strip and rebuild the carbs and fit them to the engine, then work on the front end will begin in ernest, I have new streering head bearings which need to go in, Im about to order some new springs and fork seals so it will handle like a bought one. Alas the shopping list keep growing, but I am not rushing, I want it done right.

    I dont think a top end rebuild kit will cover it.
