I checked up on my EMS shipment from Zenmarket and it arrived into EMS Sydney late this afternoon.. so.. I should get it sometime next week.. in time for the long weekend
I didn’t do anything yesterday as I was on site at Western Sydney Zoo commissioning a couple of Irrigation booster sets and then had a fun night at Homebush for a Phil Collins concert. Hoping to be able to pick up my old exhaust today so I can sort out these new downpipes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
NOTHING.. and wont be doing anything as it is too hot... at 11am is is already 34 (feels like 38 according to my app) on its way to 40 plus...so I am staying inside and keeping cool till we have to go out for dinner tonight..
Thanks Mr Grey but you will have to call me Mr Brown soon. We are slowly switching over to brown as it is just creates far less problems for us, but we are still going to leave our logo in green etc. I have a set of ZXR250 carbs and they are the next carb challenge.
Yes, the three common colours for FKM (Viton) are black, brown and green. When this elastomer became popular the de facto standard in Europe was green and in the US, brown. Our fuel seals for Mikuni BDST are black but as I proved in another video it is the real McCoy. https://litetek.co/MikuniBDSTFuelSealViton.html Took us years to get those damn things perfected. Required a three piece mold. Black FKM is pretty easy to spot because it is more of a dark grey than a glossy black. I'm pretty good at telling them apart by smell too. Since we try to sell everything you need to restore your carbs, I think we have a responsibility to help customers complete the job successfully. A comprehensive guide is really needed because they are tricky little devils.
Back in my day Viton was always Brown or Violet.. Violet was mostly used with Skydrol (Synthetic brake fluid). This was in the Aircraft industry in the 70's.. last 2 years of my apprenticeship was in the Hawker de Havilland Hydraulic shop. You will find most valve seals in Viton are brown as well. I guess going with standardised colour makes it easier to use different suppliers etc without having to pay for colour changes etc etc..either way the LiteTek product is the best on the market.. regardless of colour.
Mostly kdx200 stuff, but I do have 4 of them. Turns out the 2 old bikes that had sat around for who knows how long, do run. I had to borrow a KX125 flywheel and stator, CDI and coil off the later KDX, but they fired up. Already sold a motor out of one before I even started it. The question is: which of the other 3 don I keep?... First world problems.
After checking the dimensions on my blast cabinet I realized the Bunnings dolly wouldn’t work so I grabbed 2 of the Aldi units... now I need to get the 75 x 75 uprights (Bunnings) and then screw it all together, plus make my own cyclone and maybe find a smaller less powerful vacuum...or put a regulating valve in the vacuum line so the gloves don’t stand out straight when the vacuum is on... I might look at Jaycar for a simple motor speed controller as well...that way I can slow down the vacuum for a neater solution...
dropped the cbx and broke a mirror. now 125 $ poorer.just moving it in the shed.as i get older it gets heavier.lol.
Had to cancel selling the KDX engine, discovered the gear shifter is bent, and the other was near bald on the spline. That was the part he most needed. Oh well. And I bought parts for the KDXs, too.
Had a quick look down the plug hole of the SRX engine and she is nicely polished and looks to have plenty of clearance. Looks like I will do the top end on it. Reco’d head and my original barrel with stock piston ( honed ) and new rings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Finally collected my CB250 from Dubbo... well from a property 30km North of Dubbo. Put it on the trailer after looking at all his interesting bikes, Cars, multiple Kombi's in various stages of either repair or disrepair.. not quite sure which it was to be honest. He did have an absolute Cherry CB400 exhaust which I have made him an offer on.. hopefully he decides to sell it to me He also had an old Drag bike.. (should interest @Frankster ) that is fitted with a Supercharged VW motor... I will try to find some more details on that.. it used to run pretty hard a Castlereagh Drags apparently and when it closed they parked the bike in a shed.. Anyway.. I had a slight issue when a strap broke while I was still about 20km from Dubbo.. lucky it was on the back and I saw it brake while glancing in the rear mirrors... I jury rigged that till I could get to Bunnings at Dubbo to buy some more.. Firmly strapped down (4 straps in all) the rest of the trip was a doddle.. Its interesting.. I initially thought I was buying a G5 CB250 but... my investigations since I got home show it to be a K5.. not that there is a great deal of difference really. Here it is parked up beside its big Sister the CB400 (with a spare motor)
