Well figured out why it was leaving a pool of fuel on the ground and the pump wouldnt prime ... these clamps were not tight enough .... still wont start though but battery has bummed out from all the attempts so its on the charger
Changed out the original fuel pump as it still wasnt priming but battery cant hold up so time for a new one https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SSB-12V...m33eca787ad:g:zDwAAOSwJdBbHfbq&frcectupt=true
I bought my SSB Drycell battery off the seller with the Lithium battery when i first bought my bike, haven't had a problem with it, my FZR has sat for almost 3 month's before without being started and it fired up easily first go. The Drycell's are $83 inc post compared to the Lithium's $199 inc post, pretty sure when i got mine it was $60 inc post, they are 2.9kg's heavier than the Lithium battery's though
Yea the SSBs are great .... mine have sat for ages and still been 100% .... Ive had 2 in 7yrs (approx) and the first one was put into another FZR we built many moons ago , so Im not surprised its time to replace it The lithiums weigh nothing as I found out with the one @Frankster had for the drags
Just be aware that most "normal" battery chargers don't work with Lithium. I bought the cheapest lithium charger I could find and it cost nearly as much as the effing battery! https://tinyurl.com/yyhllagj
Yea had heard that before .... does say this in the blurb though .... SSB PowerSport Lithium Batteries are also one of the only Lithium Ion Polymer Batteries that can be charged using normal 12V car battery chargers / alternators No special charger required - can be charged using any 12V automotive charger as long as it does not have a pulse, automatic desulphation or rejuvenate mode
Bike still wont start even with a new battery .... but some success with starter fluid added to the mix Hopefully this will get the fuel moving better
So new battery and fuel pump but still only starts on aerostart ... and then runs fine time for this pile of junk to go on the scrap heap
Don't do that. There has to be a reason why it's not starting without 3rd party help. If you've got good spark across all four pots, maybe try reducing the plug gap. I don't do Mikuni, but is it possible the choke isn't working properly?
So has it been sitting since January without running now ? Was there fuel in the bowl's when parked ? I have an idea for you to try Take the airbox off the carby's, put the palm of your hand over carby 1 to seal it and crank the bike over for a few second's Take you hand off the carby and put it over carby 2 and crank it for a few second's Same with carby 3, then carby 4 You should get a bit of fuel on your hand's each time it crank's over Now try starting the bike normally, when it fire's and start's it'll be a bit rich due to the extra fuel but it should clear up pretty quick Doing this ^ i have cleared carby's that have sat for quite some time before, it draw's fuel through the pilot circuit and seem's to clear any blockage's
It was running for 10-15 minutes on Tuesday ... but needed starter fluid to get it going initially.... yea fuel is old .... but it revved freely and started once warmed up so to speak choke makes a difference when trying to start it when moved on and off ... whether its working as it should , who knows I tried like 4 different fuel pumps trying to get one that 'worked' ... maybe crud has blown thru into the carbs from one of the old ones that were just sitting in a box pain in the arse .... 7 years Ive been 'fixing' this pile of crap
Fizzball with some slight changes for its new life on the dragstrip this weekend as we had it running the other day
