Just calculating the ratios of 122/130 -> X/140 yields 131.3mm for the shortened dogbones, so your initial guesstimate of 132mm was pretty close
I like your way of thinking but i say no to cafe racers atm, especially if it's FZR250 based. Battery fits in the glove compartment easy enough now. But i'll just make a new tray to mount it horizontally where it was previously mounted (luckily it's a drycell so cant leak)
These are the 122mm eye to eye dog bone's i made yesterday. I've picked up another piece of stainless for the 132mm eye to eye dog bone's this morning, $7 for a piece of 30mm x 6mm, 300mm long
So the new 132mm centre to centre dig bones are made and fitted. Ride height is back down to normal again. And new v's original (left)
My new battery tray is half done. It uses the 2x original mounting points at the top and also bolt's to the frame where the fuel pump bracket mounts. There is now 20mm from the bottom of the battery tray to the shock reservoir. And the battery has almost 40mm clearance to the bottom of the seats' front mount.
Battery tray is finished, painted and fitted now, fairing's, seat and tank to go back on. I was researching lowering a sportsbike and most page's recommend lowering the front if lowering the rear The rear shock is only 10mm lower than the original so i have lifted the fork's 10mm in the tripple's to keep it level.
My FZR250R 3LN3 service manual supplement arrived today I can now confirm that the 3LN3 fuel level is 10.5mm above the line, just like i worked out from trial and error Float height would have been handy too I will try and scan all the page's and upload it into the resource area when i get a chance

Just work backwards - for 3LN1 - the float height @16.2mm -> fuel level/height 9.2mm So for 3LN3 float height @14.9mm -> fuel level/height 10.5mm That should be simple enough to verify by measurement
Maybe one day i'll remeasure the float height's @ruckusman, but it is running so good atm i don't want to touch it just in case About a month ago i had another play with the mixture screw's, bike was at operating temp after a ride so i pulled the tank off and tried the mixture screw's at 1.75 turn's out (from memory), the idle came up a couple of hundred rpm. So i dropped it back a bit and then used my Carbtune Pro balancer/sync tool on it. It's surprising how much adjusting the mixture's 1/4 of a turn in can throw the carby sync out Took about 20min's to get them all even again, and the rev's came up a bit more again, so i dropped it back to normal. I still haven't checked the actual idle speed/rpm, to see if it's close to the 1600rpm with my Optical Tachometer, but i think it's pretty close.
Have picked up a used muffler shell, and a hotdog to modify and make up a straight through muffler for the drag's. Cut the hotdog open today and found the perf tube had cracked and there was basically no fibreglass packing in it. I've rewelded the perf tube and trimmed the pipe, welded the front pipe on and that's about it for today, so no straight through muffler to try out tomorrow. I fitted a Diet Coke radiator overflow catch can too. FZR is ready to load up on the trailer now and helmet cam is on charge, all ready for the morning,
