clutch basket is notched, so the clutch sticks, so ive had to lightly file the basket fingers, seems to be ok, I will only be able to tell once ive made a new gasket. Anyway, I tried the fairing on just now.....take a look.....

    Well.....Latest update.......

The carbs are set, I had the mixture screws too far in, now its running sweet....regarding the clutch issue, when you have the bike running and put it in gear it just jolted and stalled....I had the clutch apart and separated the plates, soaked then in fresh oil, and made a gasket. now its all back together.

I wondered if it had something to do with the side stand switch....and had a look for it....it had been removed. I found the connectors on the loom that serviced the stand switch and 'Bullet Connected' then together...BINGO!!! I have a fully operational Bike...I took it for a spin around the private road where we live....and BOY! what a sound that little engine makes at full trot!!! I cant get this stupid grin off my face!......i'd better get the front brakes operational lol.......

So it seems that the sourced carbs are working well, I changed the innards, but didn't know if it would run....so i'm very happy now. I want to get the carbs balanced, but it's not far away from completion, just need to do the front brakes, and get it mot'd. anyone want to buy it lol?

Great credit to you, the bike looks awesome and fully understand why you can't get the grin off your dial!
I think if it were closer to home............would make you an offer :lolsign: somehow I think your offer is tongue in cheek.
We look forward to hearing about you riding it once you get some rego on it, have a feeling it will be very "positive" :D

I like the look of the GSXR without the nose and front fairings - very easy DIY "streetfighter" look!

Going back to the not starting when warm issue....I took a plug out and it was 'Lilly white' so 'To Lean' so when I wound the needles into the housing, I obviously wound them in too far, its very difficult to know where the 'Closed' position is. so ive learnt something there...

Still having starting problems, what would be a good replacement Regulator/Rectifier? when it finally starts, it wants to die if you put the lights on, unless you rev it up.......any ideas friends?

Shindengen SH775 Regulator-Rectifier for the "good" replacement if you plan to keep the bike. Then work your way down towards the cheapie ebay specials.

I think around 150 PSI is standard? I'm unsure if it varies engine to engine or not

    YESSSSSSSSSS!!!

Sorted at last.....ive stripped the carbs (again) and found the fault...
It had to be something wrong with the choke fueling system, as it would just crank over and 'Almost' start every time,
When it finally started it would run fine, but the same thing every time it was cold.

So I looked carefully at the carb bowls of the second hand carbs that are installed, and the holes are Totally blocked on both bowls. please see picture.....I put the airline on it....but nothing....not even a tiny hiss..nowt. So I put the airline on my old bowls and the galleys are totally clear....so I put the carbs back on the bike with the 'clear' old bowls on....and she fired up on the button using the Choke...something it never did before. and I can control the idle using the choke. so I will put the bike back together tomorrow and test. im so happy that ive found the cause of the terrible starting issues.

What an outstanding job you have done. You and Dr Murdo need to be inducted into the Legends of Restoration.
@monsigna: "I came across this bike in an old disused salt mine, where it had been bubbling away in a pool of brine for 15 years. I can't wait to restore it".
@Murdo: "I found this piece of pipe under a wattle tree and quickly identified it as a 1939 Brough Superior. I think there is enough of the original pipe remaining to do a full restoration".
