Picked up this old girl today. Not quite a 250 bit I hope she'll slip under the radar in super moto trim
I had to buy new ones as mine were impossible to fit Put the rubbers in hot water or the hot sun beforehand try with the rubbers on the air box first or with them on the carbys first then the the airbox pushed in a little bit of silicone spray or rubber grease may help .... just smeared on the joining surfaces and a whole heap of patience!
^^^^ anyone got some tips for the surface rust without scratching it? Also it weighs literally nothing. Lol
put a fresh set of iridium plugs in the track bike she starts first go now... and on the daily i re-fitted a pillion seat + pegs for tomorrows fundraiser event.
Tensioned the head stem bearings and gave her a bath. Also polished the windscreen. Looks a million dollars (almost)
I need to take it to work for some welding first. I believe there is a very small hole... I will give you a ring also in my quest to tighten the bolts I managed to snap a header bolt FFS!
So took for dyno run went ok 40.8 hp but has lean and rich issue during peak revs lean is very lean like could burn pistons out but it at 8-10 rpm so not in revs I will be sitting in but will explain more in my thread as there is great news Video on dyno
Went for a little ride this arvo, was downshifting to turn left and then this happened... almost jumped out of my skin it was that loud.
Took off the spare tank from Scarlet and checked the carburetor. The inside still looks nice and clean but i heard a strange rattle. Opened up the top cover and found one of the two screws holding the cylindrical slide onto the throttle linkage had come out! Screwed it back in and put everything back together including her original tank with the replacement petcock. Left the battery charging so I can take her for a ride without losing the electrics while I wait for the replacement reg/rec to arrive.
might be it gearing down but it was very loud... did you fell the gear lever snap into gear from a false neutral?
