Hi I have a 87 Rg250 mk3 which when i got it the indicators had been removed. I have 2 with long stems and 2 with short stems, Can some one tell me which ones go on the front cheers jim
Long stems are on the rear, this was because there was a law set, stating that the indicators had to be a set distance away from the number plate. I don't think this is still the case anymore with modern bikes, i think they changed it to how far the number plate has to set awayfrom the rear wheel, hence why on modern bikes the rear plate sticks so far out.
Indicators still have to be a minimum mate bought a r1 with intergrated tail light and indicators and still needs standard also number plate technically has to no more than 45 degree angle from end of rear wheel but most tail tidy are not but cops don't mind it was only brought in to stop guys putting number plate right under the seat on the rear guard so cameras couldn't see
I believe the current requirement is the distance of n centimetres between the centre of each indicator. 14cm? 18cm? Can't remember, but indicators integrated the in the tail light are too close to each other, and thus not road legal.
My cheap chinese LED front indicators have passed rego twice. Last inspection the guy questioned my LED tail light as he was staring trying to see it on in the glaring summer sun with "u got LEDs in there mate ?" with a filthy look on his face. I replied with '"yes and they are a thousand times better than the **** that came with the bike" ..... which got me another filthy look ....... ahh mechanics , dont I luv um
I got thru roadworthy, and an inspection at QT and being pulled over twice so they aren't too illegal
LED indicators or tail lights are not illegal 'per se'. Only the badly designed ones are. As long as they pass the tests (can't remember all requirements right now), they are deemed legal.
My thought exactly, the poorly designed ones incorporate everything into one=stop light and indicators combined which when used all at once certainly don't give a clear picture. I have seen these used but would not liked to be stopped for an inspection, feel certain it would fail.
