Just looking at these other spares and they have similar damage on all 4 Must be from people putting them in a vice? My original set have nothing like that and are perfectly round
The flat spot is interesting, but thinking on it, that's past the lip on the manifolds, it shouldn't affect the seal with the boots Air is getting through somehow and the idle circuit via the merge bung which is past the butterfly It's not heaps as it doesn't take much to get it to rev that high out of gear, it does rev that ~high when it leans out running out of fuel because the fuel tap is turned off - how would I know that... Idle mixture screws washer/o-rings right way around? Only other thing I can think of downstream of the butterflies is the butterfly shaft seals, but that is an outside chance as those shafts themselves are a pretty snug fit into the carb body
The fact that it revs up as the fuel runs out, implies that it is running rich at idle. Try adjusting the idle mixture screws and resetting the idle speed.
So pulled off these carbs and they are leaking fuel everywhere with a little sitting in #3 I had no new float needles so Im not surprised My next move was to go back to the original carbs and change the experimental needle jet holders for the "old" ones that were on these ... I think they are Keysters Sorry to say Mr @maelstrom , these were the problem I thought they were maybe to blame as soon as I originally saw the "jittery" slides She starts, idles and revs now but big test will be under load on the road ..... I think I might wait till high school and TAFE going home time is over ..... they are both at the top of my street
Well it got up the road but still has the old 'no rev' problem intermittently that used to plauge it when it was my road bike Motor is pushing 32yrs old with no internal maintenance so cant complain too much Video has some lulls in it but I couldnt be bothered editing
XLNT work on the troubleshooting Formula 1 sound on the first takeoff I think the difficulty starting is lack of back pressure due to no EXUP - the cams are tuned for high RPM, EXUP makes it usable at low RPM Officer: Rider, is that vehicle legal and registered for road use? EXUP is still on it .... I did shorten the headers but not by much , just to get the endpipe coming out from under the middle Id have to look back on this thread to see when I put in those tubes .... I think not too many Ks I did have a good look for the HP ..... they hang out alot at times because everyone rips up and down here ... especially the P platers from TAFE and the high school seniors The exhaust is louder than last mod .... I think Ill be using some ear plugs
I like the loud exhaust as it's the full F1 experience Even the Police dislike [loathe] the highway patrol, they're a special breed of their own OK, so the EXUP isn't the reason it won't idle/start easily, perhaps it just needs mixture screw & idle adjustment as a first step Revs out fine which is what you need
No worries that's why field testing was invented. If I ever get a fizzer I will be able to do medical experiments and see what is going on.

Bike ran like a pig Erattic and unpredictable .... bit like the rider Highlight of the weekend was the first run .... lost the rear on takeoff and nearly took out the timing lights Breaking up around 14000rpm in each gear on WOT so maybe the TCI isnt keeping up with the COPs , among many other problems. Add in carbys , valve clearances , low compression most likely But I have a good solution that will solve all the issues in one go ....

The dwell time on those COPs is bugger all, so maybe one of those Chinesium TCI units might be needed? If you have time before you throw the bike in the trash, maybe do a compression test and the valves to see what else might be causing your issues.

Sadly though I can only find one for a 2KR (and for the ZXR , which Ill try on that bike) I don't have a wiring diagram, but would the 2KR TCI replacement be that different to the one on your bike currently? as long as the pickup pulses and the starting circuit is the same, the rest shouldn't really matter (in drag racing). Also, I'm pretty sure @Linkin ran a Chinesium TCI on his ZXR250C, so he could confirm the benefits he found over the stock TCI. This bike has always been a PIA but what's bike life without a challenge ... certainly not boring That's the spirit.
