Hey guys! been a while between posts, been a little bit to well, ANYWAYS!! I picked this up from a guy that does mortgage repossession and got it for a really good price! Anyways didn’t run etc etc so took it straight to @kiffsta for him to work his magic, couple of new plugs and a clean of the carbs and it came to life! And it’s apparently pretty strong little motor, I’d been looking for one to turn into a race bike and I think this is the one! side note , having a look at my shed I’ve been a little overwhelmed with how much stuff I got atm and moving forward I’m unsure if I’ll be able to get to them all, and I don’t want them to go to waste but they are all stored well and out of the weather so that’s a good thing point I make, is I have mc19,22 parts galore, couple of full bikes I haven’t gotten to, fzr, and zxr stuff, zx6r in there also I may get to it all , but yeah, happy to chat if anyone wants to take a look or ask questions , just gotta sort a few other things before I get back into bikes full time
Will be nice to see another mc22 on the track , congrats on purchasing a kickarse bike mate , next step is race glass and some rubber
well, today was a day like no other, after much neglect I decided to bring the T500 to shop for some love, it hasn't been ridden in over 6 months and my attempt at starting at home last weekend resulted in a massive cloud of white smoke with her running on 1 pot and one less than impressed wife and even my neighbor popped his head over he fence to see what the fuss \ smoke was about. I stripped each carb and there was some small junk in the bowls, but it was surprisingly okay. I checked the jets, all okay, reassembled it and it fired up on one pot and every once and while number 2 would cough. Phil rocked up so I sent him to the shop to get some plugs, once fitted we fired her up again, same issue. After 4 -5 hours of playing, I started getting cranky and began removing parts , I noticed some corrosion on a battery terminal, I grabbed my meter and it was only showing 4 volts. Now most 2 bangers will run without a battery but mine has electronic ignition , so I hooked up my jump pack and whammo, she is running like a bought one. off to the battery shop I go... one new motoBatt and she is purring like a kitten, I am going home to get my riding gear and get out on her for a ride @Suzukititan
I decided this morning that it needs to go to a new home , it shouldnt be so neglected , then I took it for a ride and fell in love with it all over again. I am now down to the titan and the 380 , I think I need a 4 stroke I just work to pay regos
replaced what had been masquerading as a throttle return spring on the 250 Katana carbs........... the throttles now close instead of sticking open at 13000 rpm. The carbs have been on and off more times than the ignition switch so far. Then the top coolant hose split. Replaced that. Now the genny cover gasket has started leaking. I WILL eventually get this little demon on the road................
I know the struggle. Just did the coolant system, including repairing tabs broken off the radiator mounts. I've at least managed to get through a tank of fuel
So today I did a thing! came across a couple of bikes that I don’t need, but you know how it goes really nice bloke and knew what he had, also had a lot of spares but I have spares coming out my ears, so I made an offer on the bikes and we made a deal the 22 is close to immaculate minus the tank, took it for a ride and everything was mint, he hasn’t spared much money as prob 90% of the bike has been replaced with new stuff which I really appreciate the 19 is un molested, for a 31 year old bike to find one basically original as I’ve seen “I could be wrong” I couldn’t not have it, the paint code checks out as original and even had all the original sticker on the frame, under the fairings etc etc so spent money I wasn’t planning on doing, but hey, gotta love these things
Sold my KX 250, now on to the KDX200 to get it on the market. Anyone got a tank for a H/J model (95-05)?
Latte for the win The dgr wasn’t officially on due to COVID restrictions, only small groups rides were allowed , we had 15 bikes in our group, but when we stopped on mt cootha , that number swelled to 200 as other rides joined up it was heaps of fun to dress up and ride foe a good cause , I will definitely do it again https://www.gentlemansride.com/about/mens-health
Did the 40,000Km service on my CF Moto 650TK. For the last couple of months it has been starting on one cylinder for a couple of beats before the second chimes in to run smoothly. I thought it might be valves having not enough clearance and when I checked them one was loose, five were too tight and one inlet had NO clearance at all (out of 8). This would be the one causing the missfire until it got a few revs to over come the leakage past the valve. Shims shuffled and had to buy two new ones to get them all where they should be. Also replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, cleaned air filter, changed engine oil and filter, lubed throttle cables and got it all back together. Started first hit of the button on BOTH cylinders so got the gauges and synced the throttle butterflies. Should be set for another 40,000Km.
Stole some parts from the old bike to put on the new bike, Air pipes, Intake pipe from fairing to airbox, fixed pillion seat, adjusted rear preload for my fatass, drained the oil, removed the oil filter, removed some terrible stickers that the PO put on it, Lubed the chain, inflated the tires, still trying to find a cam chain tensioner or suitable non-OE replacement, tidied up the workshop, and got the old bike back together and running. Then I listed the old one on facebook for sale. Holy ****. I am getting a new ping every 2-3 minutes with people offering me lowball offers, weed, meth, (obviously stolen) shoes, all manner of stolen electronics, icloud locked iphones, on and on it goes, I have one guy coming to take a look tomorrow, who says he is bringing cash, and if he flakes there is a dismantler who wants to give me asking price for it.
