I had my rims powder coated satin black, new wheel bearings in and some awesome (but expensive) right angle valves. Tomorrow- clean the swing arm and put the rims back on. Anyone have the torque values for front and rear axles on a zxr handy?
Cheers for the zxr links. I was charged $50/rim, which was the cheapest I found in Adelaide. There were 2 imperfections that I found but it doesnt bother me for that price. I called another mob and they didn't even do their own blasting, they got another company to do it = more $$ more time etc. So I was pretty happy.
Trying to sync the carbs ..... adjustment screws are mongrels to get at. At least there was no smoke screen today
Think that is a pretty good price, paid double that amount for the NSR but were informed that same was available for $100.00 for both wheels. You live and learn.
I dont know if its a piece of **** or the bike is a piece of **** ..... but I couldnt get them anywhere near close. And the airbox boots are totally stuffed ..... must have been my experiments with them .... theres huge gaps where they slot into the airbox
And just to top off a shitty day ..... Im waiting on a few deliveries and found a card to pick up from the PO in the letterbox this morning ..... of course I was home . So went to the PO and its a 26kg box with the toolbox in it I had ordered .... ***** of a courier couldnt be bothered carrying it in to my door ..... so I had to do all the carrying ...... Why do I order online? ..... so after clicking a few keys something I want is on my doorstep a few days later NOT have to go out and chase it up ....... What an arsehole
ah man that sucks keep us posted, never balanced carbs using a vacuum gauge before, but the airbox gaps will not be giving any good results
I don't know for sure but a good way to start is to set the butterflies up with a fine piece of wire, like a fine strand out of an electrical wire. Use it as a shim, slipping it in & out till they grab. I did it the other day & she ran pretty nicely. Once the throttle's open it isn't critical imo & they will be that close you wont feel a thing. It works on the ZXR750 just fine & I use the balance guages to satisfy myself & nothing to do.. You are battling worn butterfly shafts & the screw adjusters are pretty rough, course threads & soft metals, never the same setting twice. Shoot me down if I'm wrong, I'm a carpenter after all. And don't get me started on the couriers, Aus Post do it all the time, I've been in the entry & theyve just dropped the note in the letterbox ggrrrr. The private couriers will go to some trouble & usually leave it at the front door but not Aus Post, & you cant collect till after 4 & then you have to line up with all the other people there for the same thing.
i have had a single good private courier used by a chinese mob.... he actually, somehow... found my house in the middle of bushland, jungle, dirt roads and handed me my brake discs lol... i was amazed
So first thing this morning my wife says 'I can smell fuel! ' So I go look out the back and theres a big pool of petrol on the ground and on everything under the tank All new fuel lines and clamps during the build and they are leaking everywhere ..... and a couple have gone hard WTF!
ah man i really hope this bike stops giving you trouble.... but will be all worth it once on the road and behaving itself (but knowing your luck the engine will explode on the way to get it a roadworthy!)
