It is a little high for mine... they say that the correct Cafe line should be a continuation of the tank line across to the top of the hump and then curving down... the standard tail section kind of screws with that principle... maybe a little lower in the rear would have looked better... but in the end.. if you like it then go for it... :)

Could alway's shave the foam down in the raised rear section, then pull the cover tighter and restaple it

If the rear tail section wasn't there it would probably look better but not looking at modifying the frame. Shaving the foam could be an option.

Also it's on the centre stand so the rear is a bit higher than when sitting properly, but I do agree the rear of the seat does look a bit high.

The bike is registered as single seat and I think it would struggle with a pillion on it anyway.

If nothing else, the cafe one will give you a bit of lower back support.

Picked up the new T-Rex bike lift and manhandled all 160kg out of the flimsy box and off the trailer. a91fd3398478c1f8f5ed064bcf227bf1.jpg

Then assembled the few parts that needed to be assembled and rolled one of the VTR250’s onto it.
I like the wider lift as it means I can use the paddock stand on it if it want to.

I should be able to get into some work on the Across over the weekend, hopefully.

Took it for the first decent ride. Yay!!
I tried earlier in the week, but the front wheel was out of balance and the tyre hadn't beaded properly.
It's fine now, nice and smooth. I did about 40km and nothing fell off or broke, great fun.

The only bike work I've done in a week was clean carbies for the bike I gave away last week.. And I lent him some pieces, like the front end and rear end. The carbies were terrible, and the first one vomited on my a putrid mix of water and muck. All the brass bits were black and gummed up badly. Not even sure it'll work, there's enough muck to block it up again. I ran out of carby cleaners the ultrasonic cleaner is on loan.

I havetheparts for the pw80 rebuild, got a wr250 to sort, got seals and oil to do the vtr forks, but the motivation to do none of them.

I have been following these discussions in hope of getting motivated. Think I'm just a bit run-down of late. But summer will kill me if I'm run-down now. :-(

So with the bike lift in place it was time to get some stuff done... After much fiddling around the VTR250 is one weekend away from being put up for sale... I only need to swap the rear shocker out of the spares bike and give it a bit of a details and it will go up for sale.
The Across is now on the lift will get a bit of loving next weekend... I found the cause of the deflating rear tyre... screws will do it every time... that will be plugged in the next few days and the valve changed in the front as it doesnt seal very well.
Then clean out the carbies again.. making sure she runs nice and clean. and we will see where we go then.

I responded to an ad for a mc19 cbr250 that doesn’t run, negotiated a price of $300 and set off to pick it up, Super surprise when I got there ,’it wasn’t a mc19. Air box is missing, I found some water in the carbs as it was left out in the weather, not sure if she can be saved , but I’m going to give it a go

I didnt think so either till I tried to remove the end and ended up taking a grip off. If it is removable it's a long way down the grip but I couldnt see a seam line. I'd still need to put clipons on to use the new handlebar ends.

I fired up the Balius today just to remind myself why I love 250 fours so much and noticed that cylinder 4 is the last one to get any heat through to the header pipe. Few minutes or so.....Does this mean the exhaust products in chamber 4 are cooler ? Surely not.... Or are they flowing into the system slower than the other pots due to valve clearances ?

    Runs fine...

If that header takes a minute or so to heat up,but does get very hot still & runs fine otherwise,I would check the pilot circuit in that carb for blockage & the pilot screw setting.
