Hi all i have these clutch springs from ebay from walker clutches. The listing was for zxr250 c model bike so i got them.

However the spring length is about 35.5 mm where as the service manual states the length for the spring should be 33.8 mm. The listing did say that the springs are 15-20% uprated . Is that why they are longer and will the longer springs cause any issue?

    Thanks

Longer/harder springs will make the clutch lever pull heavier and will make the clutch grabbier. If you are putting in stronger springs to "fix" a slipping clutch it's the wrong way to go about it... the steel plates and the fibre plates wear down over time and the stack height lessens, meaning the old springs put less pressure on the plates and you get the clutch slipping.

If you intended to do the clutch then there's no point mucking about... replace all the plates & springs with either OEM or something aftermarket like EBC. Take the clutch basket off and file down the ridges on the fingers of the basket... Soak all new parts in oil before installing. Get a new clutch cable and adjust it on the engine side first and lever side second.

Also if you are getting slip in certain gears (like 1st and 2nd) your gearbox might have worn engagement dogs on those gears... the fix is new gears, repair any other damage in the gearbox and have the engagement dogs "back cut" so they cannot slip out of engagement.

No harm in doing that but doing the whole lot brings everything back to factory specs.
