Just joined this forum member , so hi to all.Have just purchased a sad SRX 250FN. It seems to be all there so far via the pictures that was sent to me.Paint work seems pretty sad the age of the bike and that's to be expected. The bike is red in colour , well faded that is , so i'm trying to find out either the colour code or what actually red colour is suppose to be.Already chasing parts for it on the web as the bike is still in transit so it wont be arriving for another week. Can anyone help with the colour please.

Welcome aboard... good to see another SRX250 owner in here.
I noticed your ad on Gumtree (well I think it was yours) with a Wanted to buy heading... So I guess you found one.
Was it the one on eBay from Bondi?
I can't really help with the colour as mine is going to change quite a bit and all the colour on the tank is gone anyway.
The front fender is plastic so the colour should be OK underneath for colour matching.

As for parts... well there are a large number that are no longer manufactured and not a great deal available in Aus... I have recently found Jauce.com and there are plenty over in Japan... you just need to be careful what it is you want as there are plenty of parts that are banned from International Shipping.

My advice is to pay the $10 and become a contributing member here... there is an SRX250 Service Manual in the Manual area that you can access...
I do have a build thread in here in the Project bike section...it is coming along slowly..
Good luck with the bike.. :)

    Cheers
    Andy

Welcome. We were in Glen last week on our way to Texas.
Any paint mixing place should be able to get you a match from paint under the tank or behind the stickers.

Hello to all that chimed in. Hi Andy , yes buddy that's me , i'm busted !. Have been looking for a while missed the SRX at Bondi though.Found one in another state , took a while to secure it though but it's finally on the move. I still have one of the original Pre-Release information Yamaha SRX Brochures from back in the days that where supplied to the Yamaha Agents, it's pretty cool thing actually it compares the 250's from back in the days (VT250F/GPZ250/GSX250ESD/GN250/SR250 to the SRX .I also still have from back in the days a magazine called Quarter Litre road tests, iv'e been dragging this stuff around for around thirty years .I'm use to having pretty neat bikes but this one is definitely used and hasn't been looked after ,well not to my standards.I'm one of those guys that polish his lawn mower & rideon, yep sick in the head and i admit it !.Hi Kiffsta and Risky , thanks guys , will have a look for the sticker when the bike finally arrives to it's new home.Hi Murdo , well you forgot to drop in for coffee , you would have gone straight past our place as where right on the highway. There has been heaps of bike lately heading towards QLD , where you on a bike ?.Been trying to get hold of Yamaha USA to see if i ca get a PDF file of exploded view and part number , but so far failed.I'm after one part and then i'd be happy , but need the part number to start asking around.Anyone have this PDF file squirreled away ?.

    Which part???
    http://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/1987-yamaha-srx250-srx250t/o/m146829
Just select which part of the bike and choose OEM parts... you should be able to find the part number...
There may also be new numbers on the later SRX250 3WP.. I noticed some gaskets have changed part number..

I also tried to get the Bondi bike..lol I wanted a few parts of it and figured if I got it cheap enough... no suck luck huh... at least we pushed it up for the seller :)

    Hi Andy
Thanks heaps for the links ,it's like a huge lolly shop to me !.The part i'm after is the belly pan and associated fittings but the description / part numbers are M.I.A. No doubt not available in Australia , so had to look via the web site that you've supplied in Japan.Tried last night on that site but still lucked out !. Thanks for the colour code etc , i'll remove the tank and see how nice the paint work is and at'least i can show the paint man what it is.Cant wait for the SRX to arrive, i'm just a big kid at heart.

Ahh yes.. the bellypan.. they are not quite as rare as Unicorn **** but not far of it...
Mine didn't come with one either... not that I would use it.
Hopefully the bike is in reasonable condition... you need to share pics when you get it.
    Cheers

HI Andy , since your'e the spare parts expert , any chance that you can help me find one please with the fittings ?, any contacts that you could ask for me.The bike is still in transit so i cant supply any pictures as yet, but have to admit i'm surprised that i actually bought it , but it's the best one i could find at the time.Iv'e only rebuilt one bike and that was over twenty odd years ago and have just sold it, was very sad to see it go.

I will keep my eyes open but to be honest... I started on mine in March and I haven't seen a bellypan in all that time.

I know this seat is probably not what you want, but this bloke in Gundagai is selling a few bits (including belly pans for XS1100 and RZ500) so maybe worth an email.

Perhaps something like this from a 600 could be reshaped to fit.

Just doing some Picture comparisons that RD350LC Bellypan might be a good substitute... Maybe look for a 2nd hand one as well

HI Murdo. Thanks heaps for the info.Have emailed them to see what they might have to fit. Personally don't like my chances at all , but with help with the forum one might appear out of the ashes.
