    i am running them on some of my bikes and the quality compared to cheap rotors is amazing.as to oem products i try to avoid as often you are paying for the brand.

    Didn’t get a lot done today but spent quite a bit of time masking up the rear wheel and then managed to get 3 good coats of paint onto it.

    Then I unmasked the front discs so I could see how they turned out.
    It took almost as long to get all the famed tape of as it did putting it on. I will never use the green “Frog” brand again. It left half the adhesive on the disc.

    One of the discs still needs to be surface finished to clean up the marks.

    While I had the rear wheel masked up I threw some Eastwoods Diamond clear onto the rim.. and while I am happy with the clear, I am not happy with the polished section of the rims... front or rear. As they were originally machined (not polished) they are hard to get up a really good finish and on the rear the corrosion is starting to show up again.
    I am thinking of taking them down to the local Metal Polishing shop..Their work is really good and having a chat with them.
    I am not sure if they will be able to polish up to the painted section... so I may need to strip the paint first and then paint again after they are polished... or I could just get the rims blasted and powdercoated... but I like the look of the polished outers.
    Maybe I am being too fussy.. it wont be a "show" bike by any stretch but I dont like half doing things either.

    I havent figured out what I am going to do with the rims just yet... so I started on the calipers (discs are cleaned up and painted as above). These pistons have been butchered before and are just going to be difficult to get apart.. I have one caliper apart now.. it took heat from my Butane torch to almost melt the seals so I could pull the pistons out.
    They are quite nasty but might be OK as long as the damage doesnt go into the seal area.
    I will paint them up and assemble them to see how they go... but in the mean time I have been checking on alternatives as well as new piston sets..
    To replace the pistons and seals it would be around A$350 for both sides...Very expensive.. there are alternatives to doing this.
    The mounting dimensions are 83mm between centres and there are a few very nice calipers around that will work.
    The main ones are from YZ250 (Nissin Caliper) or the YZR250 (Sumitomo Caliper). Sources say the Nissin is by far the better caliper and that is reflected by the price second hand.
    I also found that the Caliper from Triumph Daytona 955i (up to 2003) have the same 83mm spacing and are made for Triumph by Nissin. By all accounts they are very good brakes with plenty of "feel".
    So I do have some alternatives if my repaired brakes leak... hopefully not but you never know.

    These are the 955i calipers... If I end up having to go that way I will probably sand off the Triumph insignia.. they will be repainted anyway.

    There is also an adapter to change the mount from 83mm to the Brembo Standard 40mm and then there are plenty of different options for Calipers... new and old.

    I can only find 2 spot caliper's
    Did you mean TZ250 ?

    I was looking at the Triumph Nissin caliper's the other night after i saw your piston's

    Didn't you fit an FZR250 front end or am I lost again? If so there should be zillions of Fizzer calipers available.

    You would think that wouldnt you.. and yes.. they are FZR250 3LN forks... On Fleabay there are 2 only 2KR calipers but not a single one for the 3LN series... I am not really interested in any from the Wreckers at this point..

    What about Mr Grey? @GreyImport got any calipers lying about there??
    Mine look like this. You can have them for free but you will have to pay for shipping charge and PayPal fee. Do you want the pads? I think shipping will be about 25 to 30 AUD.

    Yea theres probably some extras in the parts pile .... I need a couple for the Flyer eventually but at a guess there will be more than 1 set .... looking at your posts on the calipers it didnt click that u of course had the FZR front ... I was too busy thinking how shite the pistons looked :D

    Nope, the SRX standard is a single piston slider but I am using FZR250 forks.
    The FZR250 might have different piston sizes. The FZR250 has 34 and 27mm, no idea what the 400 sizes are.
    I think the 400 is a Sumitomo where the FZR250 is a no name ( prob OEM).

    Well that would put them ahead of the 400 Sumitomo’s. Slightly smaller discs on the FZR250 though. 282 vs 300mm so slightly less retardation for the same surface area ( leverage is a wonderful thing)
    At least I have seal kits for the FZR250 calipers
